About Anthias Labs

Anthias Labs is a boutique blockchain r&d firm centered on public goods tooling and actionable research, with a specific focus on risk management and parameter design. Our team has taken an active role in multiple DAOs and is excited to be supporting Optimism further!

Principles Anthias Will Vote By

  1. Decentralization. Decentralization is a core tenet in how we determine votes.
  2. Risk. Risk must be accounted for in all proposals. The primary risk we will seek to mitigate with our vote is direct economic risk to Optimism community members and OP holders. The second risk we will seek to mitigate with our vote is risk of centralization, which could lead to the primary risk above.
  3. Structure and Process. We will support proposals that follow the structures and processes outlined by the Optimism governance community. We will assist the community in assuring proposals accurately outline their objectives and risks as well as follow a structure that all Optimism governance participants can easily follow to assist with Tenet #1 of Decentralization.

Anthias Labs Vote Updates 27 May 2024

Protocol Upgrade #7: Fault Proofs

We voted For this proposal as it aligns with our first and second principles of risk and decentralization respectively.

Protocol Upgrade #8: Changes for Stage 1 Decentralization

We voted For this proposal as it provides greater decentralization and reduces centralization risk within the Security Council specifically.

Governor Update Proposal #2: Improvements to advanced delegation allowance calculations

We voted For this proposal as it is a clear improvement to delegate and delegator experience with insignificant apparent downside for either party to cause a vote to the negative.

Season 6: Code of Conduct Council Renewal

We voted to Abstain from this proposal as we are newer delegates and would like to see the Code of Conduct Council in action before opining on its utility.

Season 6: Intents Ratification

We voted For this proposal as we are aligned with the Season 6 intents. Intent #1 aligns with our first principle of decentralization. Intents #2 and #3 are areas we look forward to supporting further directly.

Season 6: Developer Advisory Board Renewal

We voted to Abstain from this proposal as we are newer delegates and not as familiar with the work of the two candidates in order to make a sufficiently informed vote.

Season 6: Grants Council Operating Budget

We voted For this proposal as it aligns with our first voting principle of decentralization. We are excited to see the continued success of the Grants Council in Season 6.

Season 6: Intent Budgets

We voted For this proposal as we are aligned with the Season 6 intents and the budgets to support these intents.

Upgrade Proposal #9: Fjord Network Upgrade

We voted For this proposal as it will serve as an immediate benefit to the protocol and build upon the work implemented via Fault Proofs. We appreciate the work of OP Labs and Coinbase performing the security review of these changes.

Anticapture Commission Amendment

We voted For this proposal as it aligns with our first voting principle of decentralization. Along with this, we believe the Goals and Member Responsibilities included in the amendment will be beneficial to the Collective via aligning incentives and ensuring consistency in deliverables.

Chain Delegation Program Amendment

We voted For this proposal as we believe this will be a beneficial initiative to garner greater Superchain governance from chains building via the OP Stack. However, we can see the potential that chains might use the governance power to attempt to drive excessive treasury funds to themselves, so this is something that should be actively monitored if the Chain Delegation Program is to be continued in Season 6.

Season 6: V2. Code of Conduct Council Renewal

We have voted to Abstain from voting on this proposal. As outlined in our previous delegate communication thread post, we are abstaining from opining on the value provided by the Code of Conduct Council as we have not yet seen their work first-hand.

Developer Advisory Board Elections

We voted for wildmolasses, Jepsen, philogy, shekhirin, and noah.eth for the Developer Advisory Board Election. This was an incredibly impressive pool of applicants for the DAB, so narrowing down to 5 became a search for minor points, but we are confident in many of the applicants.

Grants Council Reviewer Elections: Milestones and Metrics Reviewer

We voted for Juanbug_PGov, v3naru_Curia, and mmurthy for the Milestones and Metrics Reviewer role of the Grants Council. We selected these three applicants due to their previous experience on the Grants Council and continuous contribution to the Collective.

Grants Council Reviewer Elections: Mission Reviewer

We voted for Katie, Michael, GFX Labs, mastermojo, Tane, and brichis for the Mission Reviewer role of the Grants Council. There are many qualified applicants, and we selected these applicants primarily due to their demonstrated commitment to and experience within the Optimism ecosystem, with multiple of these members having previously served on the Grants Council in one way or another.

Grants Council Reviewer Elections: Audit Reviewer

We voted for m4rio.eth and Anthias Labs (ourselves) in line with the guidelines provided in the Agora proposal for the Audit Reviewer positions on the Grants Council. We are confident in our ability, and we cast our second vote for m4rio.eth given his deep technical background and demonstrated Optimism alignment.

Mission Requests: Intent #1, 500k OP
For the Intent #1 Mission Requests, we voted in support of the following MRs:

While there were no mission request proposals that we outright disagreed with, we found these four mission requests to be most immediately beneficial to the collective and the intent of decentralizing OP governance.

Mission Requests: Intent #3A, 6M OP
For the Intent #3A Mission Requests, we voted in support of the following MRs:

Our team at Anthias Labs sees tangible benefits for the acceleration of RWAs and other yield-bearing assets on Optimism, so we voted in support of all YBA requests (1A-D). Additionally, we think that requests 2, 7, and 8 will most immediately lead to an increase in developers on the Superchain building valuable projects for the ecosystem.

Mission Requests: Intent #3B, 12M OP
We voted Yes to support the MR for Intent #3B as we see it as directly beneficial to the growth and further establishment of the Superchain.

Code of Conduct Council Elections

For the Code of Conduct Council Elections for Season 6, we voted for Oxytocin, Pumbi, and fujiar. We found these three applicants to have the strongest current Optimism alignment and ecosystem experience. All three also sufficiently demonstrated an understanding of conflict management principles. For these reasons, we cast our votes for them.

Rolling Mission Requests

We voted Abstain on this proposal as we are on the Grants Council and would pose a conflict of interest if we voted one way or another.

Rolling Mission Requests: Voting Cycle 27

We voted for Request 2: Experimentation of Infrastructure Subsidies 250.000 OP and Request 4: Crosschain alert monitoring 60.000 OP for the Cycle 27 Mission Requests. To avoid a conflict of interests, we avoided voting on any of the Mission Requests we authored or co-authored.

Rolling Mission Requests: Voting Cycle 28
We voted For the Mission Request titled Increase Prevalence of Non-USD/EURO Stablecoins as it has a relatively small budget and could bring returns to the Collective beyond its cost by enabling further adoption of non-USD/EURO stables in markets where those assets are preferred or might soon be preferred.

Season 6: Standard Rollup Charter Ratification
We voted For ratification of the standard rollup charter as this is hopefully a step in further unifying the operating principles of OP Stack chains and the Superchain as a whole.

Governor Update Proposal #3: Enable Onchain Treasury Execution
We voted For the enabling of onchain treasury execution as it is clear step towards further decentralization of Optimism, which is a push we believe will be beneficial to the DAO if executed properly.
