A description of how the project has supported development and usage of the OP Stack :

Introduction

Optimism Español is a collaborative and open (unofficial) community dedicated to promoting the adoption of Optimism by disseminating information about its technology, ecosystem and governance processes in Spanish. Our goal is to reach all Latin American citizens and Spanish speakers in general, so that they can learn about the benefits of this Ethereum scaling solution.

How do we do it?

Optimism Español has been working on developing the Optimism ecosystem in Latin America through various activities for all types of users in different parts of the region. During 2022, we have disseminated online educational content through various platforms, such as Twitter, Discord and YouTube, both independently and in collaboration with other communities to increase our reach. We have also participated in events related to Ethereum and cryptocurrencies in general to promote Optimism’s ethos and its innovative approach to governance. We have also kept our audience informed about protocol updates, governance and ecosystem news through our communication channels. We have also been responsible for translations of the articles in the official Optimism mirror. You can review our 2022 summary in our previous post, published by @NicoProducto:

Our plan is to continue these efforts through 2023

Below, we list several of our relevant contributions to Optimism, OP Stack and the collective:

  • The projects name: DeFi Library
  • A description of how the project has supported development and usage of the OP Stack:

DeFi Library is a free source of information about DeFi, Ethereum, Rollups, Bridges, and Modular Blockchains for the Turkish community. For the last three years, it has become one of the most trusted sources for technical and non-technical information in Turkish. Turkey has a strong community (one of the largest communities) so it’s essential to provide trustable information in the native language and encourage them to participate in the ecosystem.

The project produces many issues about the overall Ethereum ecosystem, including Optimism. Through the substack newsletter, Twitter channel, and youtube account, there are multiple research pieces & guidances published about Optimism to help the community understand Optimism’s technical stack and ecosystem.

Some analytics:

Newsletter : 8k+ subs (%30+ view rate weekly)
Youtube: 2.7k subs
Twitter : 26k followers

  • The projects name: Optimism Ape Yacht Club (OAYC) NFT Project)

  • A description of how the project has supported development and usage of the OP Stack: For this, I will use my story as an example. I was onboarded to OP through OAYC during their mint, I never knew OP existed… Lol, but with the OAYC mint (which was in $OP token), I was eager to know more about the OP ecosystem. The OAYC team also provided guides and documents that could help us get $OP tokens and many more guides. It was a great experience for my onboarding into the OP ecosystem… and I believe if OAYC is supported with this grant, they’ll go a long way and achieve a lot that will in turn also help the ecosystem grow.
The MOAYC mint (was done with $OP tokens) was done and the mutation event (where OAYC Apes turns into Mutant Apes) is also on.
In few weeks, the OAYC staking will be live and this is another way to help the ecosystem, as so many new NFT folks will learn how staking works with NFTs, the OAYC team will do well by providing every necessary guides for the community and when they stake their NFTs, they can earn both $OAYC and $OP tokens.

The team also has plans to build Utilities around the $OAYC tokens and would also build DApps in the future roadmaps.

If granted, I’m sure the team will be more motivated to leverage on their ideas.

This is my take… Thanks

Projects name: Ethereum México (Education / Community)

A description of how the project has supported the development and usage of the OP Stack:

Ethereum México has great plans for 2023 like keep as organizing monthly IRL and Virtual workshops, teaching about Optimism, providing scholarships for people to learn about tech and code, visiting universities across México, teaching how to become a validator node in Ethereum, mentoring and helping other cities across México to organize their own events.

Ethereum México started last June in 2022, where we participated in the #RoadToDevcon and EthLATAM in Bogotá.

This project will have a huge impact on the future of Ethereum´s ecosystem and Optimism, as a public good for the community where our focus is to inform about what’s happening in Ethereum and to inspire and teach more builders and developers to build in Ethereum.

Our achievements:

  • We have organized 10 virtual classes where at least 60 people attend each one.

  • 2 IRL Meetups that at least 30 people have attended.

  • 5 IRL Workshops that 15 people attended in the first one and 70 in the other 4.

  • 10 Twitter Spaces where at least 60+ live people attended and more than 100+ tuned in each.

  • 2 IRL Events for 100+ people in Mexico City.

  • We have supported other communities in other cities to organize their meetups like Mérida and Puebla with 35+ people each

Thank you so much for helping us to keep teaching about Optimism and Ethereum!

A description of how the project has supported the development and usage of the OP Stack:

Our mission is to sustainably diversify the blockchain ecosystem by providing scholarships to female and non-binary Latin American individuals to attend conferences and hackathons across the globe so they may become builders and/or founders.

We onboard Latin American womxn from scratch into Web3 through Virtual and IRL Workshops teaching them the basics of blockchain and its scaling solutions, and build partnerships to offer scholarships for women to learn about development, blockchain technology, and tech skills through educational platforms that offer content in Spanish such as Platzi, Blockdemy, and Le Wagon.

Our achievements:

  • More than 15 IRL Workshops and Meetups in different cities in LATAM like Mexico City, Bogotá, and Medellín Colombia, Lima Perú and Sao Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

  • More than 10 webinars to teach about Web3.

  • +55 people have been sponsored to attend hackathons and conferences. (EthMéxico, EthBogota, Devcon, EthLATAM, EthSanFrancisco)

    • +20 hackathon projects
    • +20 bounties reached
    • 3 finalists teams

We need help to keep giving scholarships to women and also, to create a community Newsletter to keep providing quality content, Share information about Zero Knowledge and our Front-end hacks projects, and keep teaching more women in Latin America in a safe way about the Blockchain ecosystem, specially Optimism, an L2 build on Ethereum, so they know how to use it while is faster, with cheaper fees and the same security as Ethereum.
