How will this Delegate Mission Request help accomplish the above Intent?
This solutions aims to facilitate the adoption of the existing OP stack through the zero-distance approach.
Zero-distance means closing the gap between the user and the builder.

If we want to drive user engagement to the Optimism Ecosystem we need to exit the web3 bubble. This means that we need to meet with IRL communities (neighborhoods), spend time with them, understand their needs, and implement solutions in the shortest time possible. This is done by bringing a several months-long bootcamp with builders directly to the neighborhoods.

Why Neighborhoods? These types of areas host people from the five helix that compose a society (Government, Academy, NGOs, Companies, and Citizens). If these neighbors learn how to self manage their neighborhood through the use of web3 apps such as SAFE, Charmverse, Snapshot, etcā€¦ Thereā€™s a high chance that they will implement this knowledge into their professional spheres, increasing the adoption.

Why gated neighborhoods? Neighbors within gated neighborhoods are used to pay for maintenance services, security services, and budget management. The majority of gated communities are unpleased with the centralized and untransparent way of managing their neighborhood. They recognize the need for other ways of organizing and managing.

Furthermore, these people share the common goal of living in an enjoyable and safe co-living space, which brings them together. They already represent a group with a shared desire and problems that can be solved through the existing web3 dapps in OP.

More about Zero-distance to customer: It is the main strategy of the most successful IRL DAO valued in $38 billion USD: Haier. Some of its key achievements are:

20% compounded growth annually over the past 10 years
22% compounded growth in gross profits
A success rate of 49% (!) in Series A funding of innovation projects.

Weā€™ve made some improvements to our initial draft Mission Request to improve clarity and accessibility. Weā€™re in touch with some delegates, and based on feedback are hopeful this Mission Request will be picked up today.

Superchain Accounts: Accelerating meaningful participation in the Superchain Ecosystem.

Delegate Mission Request Summary:
To further enhance meaningful participation across OP Chains, we propose to develop Superchain Accounts, a Superchain native-smart accounts that leverage account abstraction features to enable OP chain users to earn Superchain Points for active on-chain participation, improve their Superchain Rank, and evolve their NFTs. Higher ranks would offer recognition and perks, such as access to Weekly Superchain Raffles and voting power in a snapshot strategy.

S5 Intent Please list the Intent your Request aligns with here: Improve the Consumer Experience

Proposing Delegate: Delegate name/pseudonym, linked to delegate profile

Proposal Tier: Ember Tier

Baseline grant amount: 40K OP

Should this Foundation Mission be fulfilled by one or multiple applicants: One

Submit by: To be set by Grants Council

Selection by: To be set by Grants Council

Start date: February 2024

Completion date: June 30th, 2024

Specification
Superchain Accounts are Superchain native-smart accounts that leverage account abstraction features that enable OP chain users to earn Superchain Points for active on-chain participation, improve their Superchain Rank, and evolve their NFTs.

The Superchain Accounts aim to serve as a userā€™s primary hub for Superchain activity, as it pulls together their progress across OP chains and rewards their participation. The solution should include an adopted, ideally modular, smart account standard that enables account creation and recovery, gas abstraction, and transaction bundling to allow for a seamless user experience for users. The solution should also enable on-chain data from at least three OP chains to be pulled into the Superchain Account and issue evolving Badges based on non-transferable Superchain Points that can be earned based on specified on-chain activity. Finally, the solution should include an evolving Superchain Rank that grants users access to additional perks. The mission includes an initial campaign period of at least 4 weeks, during which some OP incentives will be introduced to award active participation, which should be coordinated by the Mission recipient.

Account User Journey
As an OP Mainnet, Base, PGN user or other OP Chain user, I can create a Superchain Account on OP Mainnet and claim evolving badges and Superchain Points according to my on-chain account history on these networks. Claiming Badges and Superchain Points will be smooth and free due to the gas and signature abstraction functions enabled by Safe Protocol.

Based on my Superchain Points, I can increase my Superchain Rank, an evolving NFT that grants voting power in a snapshot strategy and the right to claim weekly raffle tickets in the Superchain Raffle.

Below is a lo-fi mock of how Superchain Accounts could look like; a detailed prototype should be produced at the end of the Design phase.

How will this Delegate Mission Request help accomplish the above Intent?
Improving the Consumer Experience is all about creating utility. Adding more meaning to on-chain transactions increases their utility and, as a result, increases transaction volume and user retention.

  • Creating Smart Accounts that measure on-chain participation, incentivizes users to merge their potentially multiple EOA into one account (to increase their level), reducing the friction Sybil creates.
  • Increasing user activity and retention across OP Chains by rewarding meaningful on-chain activity with claimable rewards.
  • Introducing Smart Accounts in a simple yet engaging fashion makes more users and developers aware of the benefits of Smart Accounts.
  • Through the campaigns, non-DeFi activities can be measured and rewarded across OP Chains.

What is required to execute this Delegate Mission Request?
To develop and launch Superchain Accounts, the following milestone need to be completed:

  • Phase 1 | Design (~4 weeks): Finalize the technical specification and design of Superchain Accounts.
    Deliverables: Solution document and Prototype.

  • Phase 2 | Development (~7 weeks): Develop the required smart contracts, UI components, and documentation, and run various tests.
Deliverables: Test deployment of Superchain Accounts.

  • Phase 3 | Deployment (~3 weeks): Launch the final product after testing and updates.
Deliverables: Live deployment of Superchain Accounts on Optimism Mainnet with accomplishments fetched from OP Mainnet, Base, and PGN.

  • Phase 4 | Program Phase (~4 weeks): Conduct a 1-month-long campaign with weekly raffles to accelerate meaningful participation.
Deliverables: Campaign plan at the start and results published at the end.

  • Phase 5 | Reporting and Iteration (~2 weeks): Complete the Superchain Accounts progress report to be shared with the Optimism Collective and host stakeholder interviews to ideate the following features of Superchain Accounts.
Deliverables: Superchain Accounts Report with insights and future suggestions published.

How should the Token House measure progress towards this Mission?
The Token House should measure progress toward this mission by tracking the completion of each defined milestone within the proposed timeline. Monthly progress reports should be shared on the OP forum to showcase progress.

Additionally, the Token House can evaluate the quality of the design/prototype, code (which should be open-source), and the execution of the campaigns.

How should badgeholders measure impact upon completion of this Mission?

A post-mission report should be published, that will cover the following elements that aid badgeholders in evaluating our impact:

  • User and Transaction Metrics: Insights in the number of Superchain Accounts created, accomplishment badges claimed, number of transactions rewarded, and insights into the transaction volume and retention of Superchain Account users.

  • Feedback and Community Response: Summary of gathered community and badgeholder feedback and responses.

  • Season 5 Learnings: The mission recipients learn from building in Season 5.

  • Future Iterations: Suggestions for the next steps for Superchain Accounts based on the insights from the report.

Hey @polynya, thank you!

I think itā€™s ready to post as such, but feel free to make any adjustments you see fit.

Note: Iā€™ve indicated a baseline grant of 10,000 OP, but Iā€™m uncertain if this will suffice to cover the expenses of a high-end, full-day conference or side event. Please feel free to adapt it if needed.

Cheers,

Reminder to everyone here looking for sponsorship!

Mission Requests specify the work to be done but DO NOT specify which team will complete the work. Once Mission Requests are approved, you may submit a Mission Application to fulfill the work outlined.

In other words, Mission Requests are NOT how you apply for a grant, Mission Applications are  Mission Applications will be able to be submitted at the start of Voting Cycle #19, after the Mission Requests are approved. Misision Application Guide here.

Mission Requests should look like Requests for Proposals or specs. You should not be pitching your solution in a Mission Request. Mission Requests should not mention any specific teams.

To use our governance v2 contract, built by Agora, as an example:

Mission Request:
ā€œBuild governance v3 contractā€ :white_check_mark:

NOT
ā€œSupport Agora in building a governance v3 contractā€ :o:

Agora could apply to the ā€œBuild governance v3 contractā€ in Voting Cycle #19 via a Mission Application.

Hey @lavande thanks for clarifying.

(btw. thereā€™s a question in the template that seems to indicate a teamā€™s specific fit: ā€œWhat makes you best-suited to execute this Mission?ā€. When writing the Coalitions tool post I took that as a question referring to a specific team.

Hey checkpoint. What were you envisioning that this platform might add beyond what we have with vote.optimism.io, discord, and forum?

Hey Eyal. Please note that mission requests are supposed to be team-agnostic. As in, theyā€™re a broad request for work towards some goal for any team to fulfill.

Why Deresy? Are there other systems that could potentially work here? I think the team potentially working on this request should have flexibility on how they implement review.

Run an OP Intern account

Iā€™m seeking a top 100 delegate to sponsor the OP Intern Mission Request. Tagging @binji as youā€™ve brought this concept up before!

Delegate Mission Request Summary:
To improve wide understanding and participation in Optimism Governance, I propose creating an Optimism Intern account on X and Farcaster that creates and distributes digestible content that simplifies understanding of complex topics and detailed processes. The engaging and straightforward tone of the ā€œInternā€ has proven to drive excitement and meaningful engagement for protocols and companies, and I believe it will be able to increase the overall understanding and participation of Optimism Governance.

GM @lavande - can a Mission Request be applicable to more than one intent? For example, mission can address the following examples:

-Intent 4: Contributions that educate the broader community about Optimism governance and RetroPGF

-Intent 3: Improve the Consumer Experience.

Is it ok to include both in one request?

I love this idea. Iā€™ve been praising the interns for months and included it in this marketing tips thread. Itā€™s a great opportunity to communicate important messaging in a fun and even risquĆ© approach. Base Intern is the :goat:

VanEck intern is no longer active. Maybe point to Base, Monad, Avalanche or any of the other intern accounts still running.

The Grants Council has a new subcommittee called Milestones and Metrics. Their main task is to track and evaluate all grants from Season 3 4 and 5.

This is exactly the task of the Milestones and Metric subcommittee

I would understand this proposal if itā€™s for projects applying to RetroPGF but if it is to cover Grants this will be double spending resources.

Thanks @Gonna.eth, Iā€™ll submit it there. I guess it should be prefixed by [DRAFT]?

The link I sent you itā€™s a mission request to approve the original grants system from seasons 3 and 4 in season 5. Once that proposal is approved the grants council will provide a place for you to apply for a grant with this idea. Makes sense?

Mission Name:

Making Organization Affiliation and Job Application Representative Attestation Accessible

Delegate Mission Request Summary

This missions proposal aims to create resources that allows any DAO, Organization, Company current and former member to attest and verify onchain that they have currently or previously worked as an employee, dao member or collaborator, and also to attest and verify onchain that they have applied to an open role, optionally choosing a revokable entity which they wish to use as a representative (i.e.: a recruitment service or a job board) in this process.

This will allow current and former organization talent which has no provable data (i.e.: graphic designers, ops, legal, nontechnical researchers, etc.) and also those who have provable data (eg: github history) on their current or former collaboration status to be surfaced and become visible in the broader ecosystem, making any reference check process a simple onchain operation.

This democratizes access to verifiable employeeship data as well as attribution of provenance of a talent pool introduced to an organization which might require proof, enhancing safety of reputation and due diligence systems.

This will increase Impact Metrics and leverage existing and new tools to drive impact, enhancing the collectiveā€™s sequencer activity from non-DeFi applications for new wallets.

S5 Intent

Specification

This Delegate Mission Request be benchmarked on Impact Evaluation Framework in line with Season 5ā€™s intents, Improving the Consumer Experience.

It includes creating a new set of smart contracts and reusable UI interfaces which allow users to attest that they have worked for an given organization based on provable offchain data found on GitHub, or to request an attestation by a current organization member which has verifiable data about himself, who can then vouch for the req uestee as a team member.

Furthermore when applying to any job role at an organization, an attestation can also be made which may optionally include an identifier of a chosen partner which may be used by the hiring organization for reward payouts. This shifts the burden of proving an introduction to an organization to the candidate, which may at any time revoke said representation and thus is in full control of who is representing him, if at all.

This will result in a more decentralized social work graph, improved attribution for job placement services, and a better job seeking experience for Job Seekers who wish to onboard into the ecosystem as it will streamline reference checks for everyone.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Deliverable 1: Specification for the attestation model, allowing for attestation requests from others and revokable attestations
  • Deliverable 2: Stand-alone, interactive, and open-source website hosting the attestation Framework.
  • Deliverable 3: A set of SDKs, Libraries and developer tooling which can be adopted by any builder in the apace who wishes to integrate employee reference checks or talent provenance checks.
  • Deliverable 4: Awareness Roadmap and feedback tracking from integrators.
  • Deliverable 5: Live integrated interface on a job board.
  • Deliverable 6: Report on learnings and improvements in the execution of this Mission and User Needs identified from both Applicant projects and Integrators.

How Should the Token House Measure Progress Towards this Mission

Bi-Weekly updates in the governance forum, with the following table tracking milestones, titles, deliverables, due dates, and evidence of completion:

Seeking sponsorship for Mission Request titled Additional Revenue Sources to Fund RetroPGF Rounds

@lefterisjp this may be up your alley given your recent tweet thread :eyes: ?

[Draft] Additional Revenue Sources to Fund RetroPGF Rounds

Delegate Mission Request Summary:

Funding RetroPGF currently relies entirely on just two sources: (1) the initial OP allocation and (2) sequencer fees. The former will eventually be depleted, whilst the latter requires Optimism sequencer feesā€™ revenue to grow ~25x to fund two RPGF3-sized rounds per year. Aside from growing momentum, we should consider building additional sustainable revenue sources for RetroPGF, or run the risk of RetroPGF distributions getting ~decimated whilst sequencer fee growth is catching up.

This Mission Request calls for mission teams to work on building additional revenue sources to fund future RetroPGF rounds.

How will this Delegate Mission Request help accomplish the above Intent?

RetroPGF is one of the driving forces of Optimismā€™s push for the Superchain, but the current funding sources for RetroPGF are unsustainable and/or insufficient to sustain RetroPGF at its current size, putting the continuity of RetroPGF at risk. This is problematic as retroactive funding only functions as an incentive mechanism for present-day work if contributors can plausibly count on it to be rewarded in the future.

This mission request aims to result in diversifying the revenue sources for RetroPGF, increasing the programā€™s resilience and ultimately ensuring the continuity of funding for one of the driving forces for growing the Superchain.

In addition, it is likely that mission teams contributing to this mission request will end up building new funding primitives on Optimism leading to further progress to growing the Superchain.

What is required to execute this Delegate Mission Request?

  • Teams participating in this mission should have demonstrable experience designing and deploying a novel smart contract (i.e. not exclusively a fork of an existing project)
  • Team members should have experience interacting with DeFi fundraising protocols
  • Teams are required to submit a proposal, which should at minimum include:
    • Design direction to be explored
    • Back of the envelope calculations of scope of funding that could be contributed
    • Intended deliverable
    • The main team members and their relevant past experience
  • At the end of each quarter, teams are required to post a progress report on the forums detailing their work and high level plans for the next quarter
  • By December 2024, teams are required to submit a final report detailing their work and the resulting deliverables.

How should the Token House measure progress towards this Mission?

  • Assess viability of revenue sources for funding RetroPGF
  • Monitor additional funding contributions to RetroPGF
  • Assess sustainability of funding during each RetroPGF round in 2024
  • Read quarterly reports posted on the forums by each mission team
  • Assess the quality of the final report presented by each team

How should badgeholders measure impact upon completion of this Mission?

  • Measure the absolute # of new revenue sources for funding RetroPGF
  • Measure the absolute $ contributions of new revenue sources for funding RetroPGF
  • Measure the relative growth of $ contributions of the new revenue sources over time
  • Assess sustainability of RetroPGF funding for future rounds
  • Assess mentions of RetroPGF funding sustainability as a topic on the internet and at conferences
