Who are you?

Iā€™m Varit, known online as v3naru. I have been deeply involved in the blockchain since 2018 and decentralized governance space since late 2020. My background is diverse, encompassing startups, business, and decentralized governance. Iā€™m currently running a delegate team, Curia and as well as working with a leading venture builder in Southeast Asia, focusing on DAO research and development.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

Being a badgeholder for me is more than just a title; itā€™s a commitment to actively contribute to a DAO that is pioneering new ways to govern and fund public goods. My journey in the blockchain space, particularly in DAO governance and operations, has equipped me with a nuanced understanding of the challenges and opportunities in decentralized governance. Iā€™m excited by the Optimism Collectiveā€™s RetroPGF initiative, which I see as a novel approach to solving the public goods funding dilemma.

Key reasons for becoming a badgeholder:

  1. Experience in Governance and Data Analytics: Iā€™ve been involved in the development of OP governance dashboards that provide granular insights into DAO activities. I believe my experiences can add value in contributing to the RetroPGF allocation process, making it more transparent and data-driven.
  2. Commitment to Our Principles: My advocacy for principles like experimentation, progressive decentralization, inclusivity, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making (E.P.I.C.D) aligns closely with the ethos of the Optimism Collective. I aim to bring these principles into the badgeholder role, ensuring that the RetroPGF process is as inclusive and equitable as possible.
  3. Learning and Growing Together: I see the badge as a two-way street. While I offer my skills and insights to the community, I also look forward to learning from this vibrant collective of like-minded individuals who are equally passionate about decentralized governance and public goods.

Who are you?

I am part of the governance team at StableLab. StableLab is a governance firm focused on professional delegation, DAO framework design, and product development. We work with over twenty of the top DAOs to help them decentralize sustainably.

I personally served as the Governance Facilitator for Euler Finance, served on the Rari DAO security council, and am an active delegate in Arbitrum, Balancer, dYdX, and Optimism.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

As a leading Delegate across many of the top DAOs, I believe I can offer valuable insights to the Optimism community. I have admired Optimismā€™s willingness to experiment with governance and would like to play a larger role in this experimentation.

StableLab previously had a badge in the last cycle and I was able to attend some of the badgeholder calls and follow along with the process. This cycle I hope to earn a badge of my own so I can have a say in the next round of retroactive funding!

Who are you?

LXDAO is a DAO that supports the sustainability of public goods, we have a very strong production and research capability, and our members have an open-source community spirit.

We are a group of people who seek to explore and realize the true value of Web3, even if our views may sometimes seem idealistic.
We believe that Web3 public goods will be the cornerstone of the future Web world. Although they currently lack construction and infrastructure, we will be the best builders.
Iā€™m Marcus, Contributor at LXDAO, and Iā€™m primarily responsible for governance at LXDAO. The LXDAO Governance Group is the group responsible for designing the entire LXDAO governance mechanism, voting rules, and economic model.

With 1.5 billion Chinese speakers, we want to be a badgeholder, popularising and spreading the vision of optimism and public goods in the Chinese-speaking world.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

The LXDAO Governance group is interested in becoming a badge holder because we believe in the value of recognizing and rewarding community contributors. We are very supportive of the long-term growth of the Optimism ecosystem and are committed to promoting diversity of projects and perspectives within the RetroPGF community.

What are your areas of expertise?

Membership: We currently have 197 registered members, 65 of whom have governance rights and make decisions about anything LXDAO does!

Governance: We designed a governance mechanism for Web3 public goods builders, and itā€™s been working well for a year now.

Public Goods: Weā€™ve created more than 10 Web3 Public Goods in a year of development, ranging from MyFirstNFT, MyFirstLayer2, which allows newcomers to Web3 to learn about the blockchain in a few minutes, to the MobyMask project (an anti-phishing site) in collaboration with MetaMask, to projects like Donate3, which is similar to ā€˜buy me a coffeeā€™, here is the project description: https://lxdao.io/projects

Organizational partnerships: We have partnerships with many organizations, most of them are related to public goods, DAOstar, MetaMask, PlanckerDAO, 8DAO, AAstar, etc., because our strategic direction is to make Web3 public goods sustainable
Hackathons and awards: We have won many hackathon awards or sponsorships from public chain foundations such as ESP, Filecoin Foundation, MetaMask, Gitcoin, and others.

We adhere to the principle of decentralization, and are convinced that DAO will become the new form of human cooperation in the future,

We are committed to long-termism. Our focus is on how Web3 can truly create value for the world.

Now that the badge holder for season 3 are announced and concluded, if you could not make it, I would like to request you to stick around and contribute to this collective.

There are so much to do, create content around gov and Optimism in general, contribute to the ongoing and evolving discussion here and on discord, help new member with their initial queries, submit your delegate profile(https://vote.optimism.io/) if you have not done that already.

For devs, look at ecosystem contribution page GitHub - ethereum-optimism/ecosystem-contributions: Find ways to contribute to the Optimism Collective, you might find something of your interest.

Now with scope of superchain, even Zora, Base and Warpcast contribution could also help you in getting a badge in next season.

I have XP in education/marketing/solutions and social communication. I love the web3 grant platform, and have completed over 50 grant programs / kickstarter / hackathon. I understand how hard it is to evaluate other peopleā€™s projects, as I myself have been a committee member and jury member of various social contests and grant programs. I also understand that every grant program should achieve its goals, and this can only be achieved if the person who makes decisions on the issues of evaluating the quality of work/content/relevance and other criteria corresponds to the goals of the grant program and is objective.

Haardik, Co-Founder @ LearnWeb3, Open Source Hacker

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?
Iā€™ve been following Optimismā€™s journey for many years - first meeting Liam Horne in Toronto in 2018 when he was still building out L4. Since then, itā€™s been amazing to see the growth of the ecosystem. My primary background is as an engineer. I spent 3 years contributing to the Decentralized Identity ecosystem within DIF, then shifted to being a Protocol Engineer at Ceramic (3Box Labs), and then became an educator through LearnWeb3. Aside from that, I do open-source stuff as well, with the most recent example being Teleport - a WIP fast Farcaster Hub written in Rust that follows the Farcaster protocol to improve client diversity.

As a public goods builder, ETH-aligned builder, and OP/Base/Farcaster builder, Iā€™d love to help out however I can as a badgeholder (For S4 and beyond)

What are your areas of expertise?

  • Web3 Education, from time at LearnWeb3
  • Decentralized Identity, from time at DIF and Ceramic
  • Account Abstraction, from building the most comprehensive AA course for devs

I could list more but itā€™s better to show Proof of Work. See my portfolio here - https://haardik.dev/
