Signaling intention to become a Badgeholder

Who are you?

My name is ZER8 aka Popescu Razvan Matei and I’m a PG maxi since I joined web3 full time in 2020. I worked only for PG aligned organizations since then. Worked for over 1 year and a half with Gitcoin(still a steward), 1Hive(still a contributor) and the TEC.
I’m also Giver at Giveth and donate to public goods constantly and I’ve also founded a free educational concept for romanians called Mafia Creativa. In Spring I created the ROptimism twitter account to help promote Optimism to romanians(we’re one of the most active crypto people, almost half a million people are into crypto). Also co-founded the NFbeez a decentralized, bottoms-up, NFT project based on promoting some communities that stand with the real ethos of web3(mostly based on Gnosis chain).

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?
I really care about public goods and Optimisms vision to fund and empower builders. I want to bring my contribution and want 2 see great projects get funded more! Optimism is very generous at times and I hope I can help signal

What are your areas of expertise?
I’m kinda multidisciplinary and I have experience in: creative problem solving, planning, grant screening, project execution, marketing and building stuff in web3.

I wouldn’t say I’m an expert in grant screening, but I contributed as a reviewer in Gitcoin DAO and then lead the Grant eligibility team at Gitcoin for over three seasons, screened over 3000 grants, trained people to screen grants and helped protect over 1m $ in funding. I kinda developed a spidey sense in relation to grants

I’m a Portuguese graphics designer and web 3 leaner. You can be so kind to check my wok at https://www.artespraticas.com. I’d love to be able to live from web 3 exclusively since I know my work will be pretty much ā€œeatedā€ by AI, but at this moment isn’t possible for me yet. Hope that my last months earching and engaging/participating n dozens of testnets and tasks will have any results, but so far pretty much nothing… Sorry if this isn’t has intended, but also wanted to nintrodeuce myself. Who are you?

I’m Astro, the founder and writer behind BlockTrend, an independent media dedicated to producing original Web3 content in Chinese. You can find the English version here. BlockTrend was recognized in RetroPGF2 and ranked among the top five in the Web3 community and education category of Gitcoin Grants Beta Round. Additionally, we’ve received a personal endorsement from Vitalik Buterin.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

As a native Chinese Web3 participant, I have observed a noticeable resource disparity between Chinese and English content within the RetroPGF ecosystem. Chinese readers often consume English content, while English readers rarely engage with Chinese content. This undervalues the contributions of Chinese resource within the Optimism ecosystem. I aspire to be a pivotal figure within the Optimism ecosystem, well-versed in the developments of the Chinese Web3 landscape, to ensure equitable opportunities and resource allocation for communities of different languages on Optimism.

What are your areas of expertise?

I am a full-time Web3 content writer. I have actively engaged with Taiwan’s governmental sectors in discussions related to Web3 development and have been invited to share my latest knowledge with Taiwan’s central bank, Ministry of Justice, and Ministry of Economic Affairs. To date, I have written over 500 articles, has amassed 15,000 subscribers, and many Web3 participants in Taiwan have remarked, ā€œWe grew up reading your content.ā€

Who are you?

I’m LauNaMu in the web3 world. I founded IEF - Impact Evaluation Framework, dedicated to helping public goods projects quantify their impact using on- and off-chain metrics. I am also a governor at HER LATAM, championing Latin American women builders in web3. Previously, I was a grantee at Semaphore, an Ethereum Foundation-backed ZK Open Source project. I have a strong involvement in the web3 public goods space, and come from a solid FinTech and Public Policy startup background.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

I deeply believe we’re on the right track to improve the current public goods funding gap with RetroPGF, but we’re not quite there. I want to contribute to the summoning of the Ether’s Phoenix by ensuring we leverage as much objective data as possible when we talk about ā€œimpactā€.

I aim to become a badgeholder for multiple reasons:

  1. Drawing from my expertise in public goods, impact evaluation, and metric design, I see an opportunity to enhance the funding allocation process based on projects’ past performances. I believe that through the creation and application of robust evaluation frameworks, we can pave the way for a scalable future of RetroPGF. This, in turn, will establish clear benchmarks for what is beneficial for the Collective, allowing upcoming projects to discern how best to deliver value effectively.

  2. My multicultural professional and personal journey has endowed me with insights into the intricacies of valuing projects across varied geographical contexts. By becoming a badgeholder, I intend to contribute my unique perspective, enriching the evaluation process to ensure diverse projects are appraised holistically and fairly.

What are your areas of expertise?

  • User Experience Evaluation & Strategy: Catering to both developers and non-technical users.
  • Impact Metrics Design & Implementation: Proficiency in both off-chain and on-chain metrics.
  • Operational Streamlining: Expertise in refining and improving operational processes.
  • Mechanism Design: Deep knowledge in designing incentive mechanisms
  • Public Goods Domain: Comprehensive understanding of the landscape and nuances.
  • Community Building: Building, nurturing, and growing communities.
  • Business Development: Strategizing and expanding business operations.
  • Strategy & Operations: Holistic approach to project planning and execution.

Who are you?

My name is Pilar, head of research @ Cryptoversidad. My personal mission right now is to spread DeFi and the financial opportunities to empower us, while at the same time having a critical eye on web3, I don’t want to walk without knowing where I’m going.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

I want to become a badgeholder because I want to be part of the experimentation around governance. I want to learn and contribute more than anything else. In my country, governance and public goods are light years away from the philosophy of simplicity and efficiency that Optimism seeks. I want to know other possibilities and build from where I am to spread the vision of Optimism, plus you have very cool NFTs to be a citizen!

What are your areas of expertise?
I started learning about DeFi tools in 2020 and then I started studying blockchain. I am currently involved in research, analysis, translation and writing activities. I started researching at a technical level to expand the knowledge about blockchain in Argentina, but lately the governance issues are the ones that are calling my attention.

Hello Brahim from Morocco, delighted to reply to you and I greet all those who read my message across the globe. Wow, this gives me a platform where I can talk about things that interest me without people taking me for an alien, since web3 is not yet fashionable in my country… either you are one without wanting to be or you aren’t, and as for my area of expertise, it’s far from web3, but that’s just my area of expertise… I hope to be part of this community and that one day we’ll all be optimistic for a better world.

Who are you?

I’m Santi Cristobal, founder of Solow, a free academy for builders in Latam. I believe education is the best chance to build a better future, that’s why I’ve been working in crypto education for the last 2 years.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

Born and raised in Argentina, I’ve seen first-hand all the pain and suffering shitty economic systems can bring to people. As a kid, I dreamed of studying philosophy and coming up with a breathtaking new philosophical system that would take the best out of capitalism and improve it so that everyone would be better off. I soon realized I’m not smart enough to do that and followed a different path.

The idea, however, didn’t die. I wrote my master’s thesis on ā€˜Social businesses and how they could reduce inequality of opportunities’. I’m convinced for-profit organizations that have a societal impact embedded into their commercial activities are the key to getting the brightest minds in the world to work on society’s bigger problems. And that’s EXACTLY what I found in the Optimistic Vision.

After 2 years of focusing almost exclusively on Solow, and our mission of making quality crypto education available to everyone in Latam, I now feel ready to take on new responsibilities and challenges and couldn’t think of an ecosystem that’s more aligned with my own personal view of the world.

What are your areas of expertise?

I consider myself a jack of all fools and master of none. That’s just a fancy way of saying I’m not an expert in any given subject, but I do have plenty of experience in education, community building, and marketing.

I also worked on building a Public Good for the last 2 years and did technical research for institutions such as Mastercard and VISA.

1.- @thinkDecade represent a community that doesn’t have the means and development they actually other parts of the world has, the endeavor mission that he is doing as first principles it’s to help and continue giving his time and effort in real life and in the crypto ecosystem to his community. I totally see his mind in this optimistic direction.
2.- @hirokennelly its a friend that it’s always looking to understand the feelings of that he writes and how it could be better understood. His lectures and articles about optimism are original and letting all the Bankless readers and outside the Bankless community a better understanding of how you can feel part of the community and ethos. Communication it’s related for me, to the way that we can touch the heart and mind of the people and in sure that Hiro understands that vibe.
3.- @jengajojo its a native governance fisherman, he is always looking forward the direction of the best approaches to the community and how to help everyone that asks the hows, and why’s. Itself it’s committed with the Ethereum values, always looking for decentralization process and also helps in the community on boarding members in different projects to start the journey through web3. Also it’s the incubator and creator of subDAOs and governance process inside the ecosystem.
Disclosure: I’m part of BanklessDAO and I’m not looking for a badge since I’m here experimenting as all of us, but in sure that anyone of this three marvelous people deserve and opportunity to amplify their contact surface.

I have been working with @Pumbi for about a year and can 100% guarantee he is a real Optimistic. I am aware of my bias, but feel the need to recognize his work to push the Optimistic Vision forward. There are few people in Latam with such an active participation on the ecosystem.

Yes Pumbi and Santi are one of best people in Spanish related to pro content. For me it’s essential to hear something about both of you to understand subjects that I can’t event imagine to translate. So yes, I think that the team that Solow and you guy are creating its great.

Who are you? Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

-We are the ITU Blockchain delegation team.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?

-For over a year, we have been evaluating, reporting on, and voting for ecosystems. Even in our rudimentary terms, we always analyzed our work with our intentions in mind, without skipping a beat. The evaluation we made gave us considerable information overload and pivotal experience in being involved in governance. We appreciate and are deeply inspired by the core value of Optimism. We intend to accompany new projects, involve ourselves in the ecosystem, and contribute our knowledge. This obligation may be the most valuable and crucial for the ecosystem, and we genuinely believe it needs an objective and open mind.

What are your areas of expertise?

Since our first start, as a team, we have improved ourselves in terms of blockchain and governance. Our progress is based on adding new and fresh information about Ethereum and it’s products to keep our knowledge updated. Our committee members also include project developers who are interested in Web3 software.
The merging of our experiences in terms of blockchain and governance gives us major expertise, allowing us to analyze the ecosystem.

Why do you want to become a badgeholder?
WE LOVE :heartpulse: OPTIMISM !!!
The developers on our team are constantly pushing towards the next level of impact making when it comes to our contribution towards the Optimism network. Our advocacy for the ethos of public goods on the Optimism network runs deep. Originally serving as delegates on the NFT & Gaming committee in 2022 prior to the formation of the Citizens house. We were introduced to the Optimism network from the Gitcoin ecosystem which also shares similarities when it comes to funding projects related to public goods. This year we used the funding that our project received from RPGF round #2 and put a majority of those funds into the development of our current platform that will become an optimism centric dApp we feel will add value to the ecosystem. Our main focus is cultivating a creative hub for impact makers. We are firm believers in retroactive funding! IMPACT OVER PROFIT :red_circle:

What are your areas of expertise?
Our areas of expertise include integral platform development which contributes directly to the growth of the OP stack. Interoperability between blockchain networks. NFT Smart contract deployment & web3 tooling community educational content. Currently we are shifting our focus towards onboarding regenerative technology projects to the optimism network that will help to contribute towards the overall health / sustainability of both the physical and digital world.
