[Request for Feedback] Introducing GovGraph.fyi – Governance Connections Visualized

We are thrilled to introduce GovGraph.fyi, an innovative tool designed to improve our understanding and interaction with governance ecosystems. GovGraph offers a unique, dynamic approach to visualizing the complex relationships within governance structures, particularly focusing on Optimism’s ecosystem. We need feedback from citizens and other stakeholders to make it more useful (see below).

Key Features

  • Interactive Relationship Mapping: Explore connections between power users, delegates, developers, and citizens.
  • Advanced Filtering and Search: Dive deep into social graphs, voting patterns, and potential sybil attacks.
  • Transparency Enhancement: Identify alliances, conflicts of interest, and influence clusters.

How to Engage

  1. Explore the Graph: Visit https://op.govgraph.fyi/ to experience GovGraph firsthand (we’re improving UI at the moment)
  2. Provide Feedback: We’re actively seeking your input to refine and improve the tool (here, in DMs or in GitHub)
  3. Suggest Features: Share your ideas for new functionalities or improvements here: Issues · GeneralMagicio/op-gov-graph · GitHub

Thanks in advance!

We’re excited to embark on this journey with the community. Your engagement and feedback are crucial in shaping the future of governance transparency and accessibility. Let’s work together to create a more efficient and transparent governance ecosystem!

GovGraph is a collaborative effort between Trusted Seed (Me & Yineisy) and General Magic (Ahmad, Alireza, Krati, Lulu, Lliam). Our team brings extensive experience in reputation systems and governance analytics, evolving these concepts into GovGraph.

GM! I believe other teams are working on something similar. You might consider collaborating or exchanging ideas. I’ll tag @LuukDAO, @AnthiasLabs, and @alexsotodigital, as this might interest them :cowboy_hat_face:

Thanks for the tag Brichis!

GovGraph looks interesting. We’re currently working on a Gov research piece with Superchain Eco, I’ll give you a ping sometime this week to explore how we can leverage and collab on GovGraph.

Thanks @brichis for tagging me in updates to this topic.
As she says, I see that there are many of us making similar efforts and it would be good to find a way to create synergy.

@maxsemenchuk, giving some feedback on this graph, I really like that there are different categories with which to filter the view and the level of interactivity it has. And yet, I miss categories more linked to the work within the collective (like ‘chosen in representative structures this season’ or ‘are part of x contribution path’); which is what I tried to reflect in my chart

That is, your tool is fun to explore, but it does not give useful information for those who join the collective (who potentially want to identify who to approach to solve some issue). It gives us a glimpse of people’s social capital, but not their area of contribution or their area of expertise.

Taking advantage of the technical features of the tool, do you think we could add something like that? I am at your disposal if I can help with this.

Hey, thanks so much @brichis @LuukDAO @alexsotodigital for your feedback, looking forward for collaborating together

@alexsotodigital about your chart – I think I saw your map lately and had a desire to have such a feature. I’ll switch to DMs to follow up on that.

Dear friends,

I’d like to share an update we did to the GovGraph – addition of OP Delegates. Now you can explore connections between delegates and citizens using an intuitive color-coded system and node sizing to represent network relationships. We’ve also done several UI improvements and a small analysis (see the link). It reveals interesting patterns in delegate ecosystem connectivity, showing that larger delegates tend to have stronger citizen connections, while also enabling the identification of specific coalitions based on on-chain behavior.

Interesting features and very promising in the future, and I think as Optimism grows its ecosystem and governance structures, this tools will significantly enhance transparency and data accessibility.
Great job GovGraph.fyi
