[DRAFT] Optimism Educational Campaigns Mission Request

Organizing 4 campaigns. Every quarter, inviting a mix of established and new projects. The aim is to delve into project offerings, facilitate user onboarding, and provide community education. This streamlined approach allows projects to focus on building while organizer onboard more users. With 6-8 projects per campaign, organizer’ll be helping ecosystem and do marketing for ~30 projects.

Specification

How will this Delegate Mission Request help accomplish the above Intent?

  • This approach aims to save significant time for the projects by handling the thinking and organization of marketing campaigns. Organizer leverage their past experience to be their voice, educating the community and creating a bigger impact.

  • This way, the projects can focus more on building better services, while organizer take care of all the necessary elements for their campaigns, such as NFT designs, tasks, promo videos, marketing materials, and quest listings with possible rewards. if organizer invite 6-8 projects to each campaign organizer could have helped ~30 Top/New projects building on OP / onboarding many users to the projects/ecosystem and educating them

  • These campaigns are not just about listing a few tasks. They will be a mix of educational content, reviews, highlighting strengths, and demonstrating how they benefit users. The approach will be more of a “learn in action” format, which may come with future rewards or advantages. This approach aims to assist both builders and users, contributing to the ecosystem. This is especially relevant now, given the influx of Layer 2 solutions and the overwhelming number of projects launching in each ecosystem. It helps prevent users from potentially overlooking a great product or service.

What is required to execute this Delegate Mission Request?

  • Examining, testing, and evaluating new projects on OP, especially those offering novel services or products.

  • Contacting each project to grasp their marketing requirements.

  • Collaborating with teams to brainstorm marketing concepts and devise strategies for their implementation.

  • Reviewing available platforms for campaigns and collaborating with their teams to optimize outcomes.

  • Collaborating closely with projects and the design team to craft top-notch marketing materials, encompassing NFT designs, promo videos, and graphics for educational content.

  • Producing high-quality educational content for social media, covering the latest updates and upcoming services/products.

  • Conducting LEARN/DO/EARN campaigns.

How should the Token House measure progress towards this Mission?

  • Generate a roster of projects invited to participate in each campaign.

  • Compile the ultimate list of projects slated to engage in each campaign.

  • Document the tasks and quests requested by each project.

  • Outline the threads and educational content intended for sharing across all social media platforms.

  • NFT designs, promotional videos, and marketing materials.

  • Establish a timetable for each campaign, including start and end times.

How should badgeholders measure impact upon completion of this Mission?

  • Generating a summary report for the campaign.

  • Collecting reports from the project once each campaign ended.

  • List of published educational content.

  • Recording the count of likes, reposts, impressions, and bookmarks.

  • Compiling a report on the number of users who participated in the campaigns.

How can This benefit the ecosystem and projects?

Several factors should be taken into account, as the campaign stands to benefit not only the entire ecosystem but also numerous projects and teams. Examining the Optimism Quest campaign in September 2022 and the team’s year-end report reveals a significant increase in transaction numbers—from around 4 million in August to nearly 11 million. You can see details in here

Data doesnt lie that projects and the entire ecosystem can reap the rewards of marketing campaigns and educational content. This is particularly crucial as we venture into a potential bull market, as it has the potential to attract more users rather than adopting a passive “wait and see” approach to market developments.

If we want to be realistic, considering the number of new blockchains and marketing activities that other ecosystems are implementing, it seems that optimism is the need to take measures that can improve its position.

Considering the market always follows profit opportunities and incentives, and considering that a significant percentage of $OP tokens are still going to be distributed among users in the future, these campaigns can be one of the criteria that can create enough motivation among the community so that organizer can shift the attention towards the ecosystem and new and old projects. We all witnessed the result of this strategy on Solana, Manta Network or even with liquid staking projects gaining billions TVL and users.

It is an undeniable fact that the existence of conditions for receiving possible incentives will undoubtedly direct many funds and activities toward the ecosystem and projects. This position is important from several dimensions because it provides the chance and possibility for projects to introduce their services and services to users in action, as a result of which a large part of these funds can remain in the ecosystem and projects.

Stating that maybe an incentive is considered for the participants in the campaign can guarantee the multiple success of these campaigns.

This point should not be forgotten that taking into account things like incentives is not a prerequisite for the campaign, but it is one of the things that can be agreed upon by the projects and ecosystem, along with other marketing issues.

Missing Questions:

Please explain alignment with the relevant Intent

Sharing educational content, quests, and tasks to test and apply what you’ve learned will improve the consumer experience. This approach aims to educate even the least experienced users about the top features and services each project offers, turning them into repeat users. This, in turn, can lead to bridging more assets into the OP Network and increasing transactions on both platforms and the network, while gaining a deeper understanding of the ecosystem.

Please list responsibilities and/or expected deliverables

Organizer will take care of everything from A to Z. This includes exploring the ecosystem, reaching out to the projects and teams developing on OP, extending invitations to teams, and compiling all the necessary data and requests. Organizer will collaborate with the teams in each round to brainstorm campaign quest details, ensuring a thorough understanding of their needs and demands. Additionally, organizer’ll identify the best platform to host campaigns and work closely with each team to secure exclusive support.

Handling all aspects of NFT designs, promo videos, marketing materials, etc., is also part of our responsibilities. Organizer will conduct comprehensive reviews of each project in collaboration with their teams, aiming to understand the unique features and services they offer, their points of differentiation, and how users stand to benefit. Team will stay abreast of upcoming updates and gather all pertinent information for inclusion in our educational posts.

Furthermore, organizer will manage the listing of tasks/quests, NFT contracts, perk giveaways, and rewards provided by partner teams.

Have you engaged a Grant-as-a-service provider for this Mission Request? If so, please disclose the details of this arrangement, to the extent possible.

Hey, thank you for the proposal!
Having worked in organising Educational Campaigns in the past, having a mission to document the most effective ways to do this could be useful for peopple building on OP.

Could you expand more on the budget breakdown of the grant amount? Is all of it going to go towards doing the research, or is any reserved for these assisted campaigns?

Additionally, could you share some of the past campaigns you have made in the past? I think it could help delegates vote FOR were this proposal go for a vote if so

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, i think it will be helpful for the collective to have basic guidelines on how to market their product better and ensure better edu. campaigns among users.
I will be adding this into the mission request as well, so that everyone in collective can benefit too.

The way mission requests are structured - we are just putting this directive up in place so that we can highlight builder’s needs.

Anyone who is deemed capable - can come and take this up if it passes, and i leave grant’s council to take the final decision on that.

The finer details of how budgeting is also left to whoever ends up getting the mission, with the only caveat being that 32 projects needs to be highlighted over 4 quarters, which is a huge undertaking.

I believe that educational campaigns are useful for addressing the reach problems many builders like ourselves experience.

Polynomial - as a native project who has been building on Optimism for 2 years now, we have been part of many initiatives - Optimism Quest, Phase 0 Grants, OP RPGF3 etc. We have also had our fair share of running educational campaigns or directly contributing to the same with Polynomial Trading Season, Polynomial Bytes, Polynomial Academy etc, Alpha Insiders Quest etc.

The SNX Ambassadors are happy to be the posting delegate here if there is any confusion about Polynomial being a top 100 delegate.

I def wouldn’t mind more marketing support, but I think the proposal @Gonna.eth did would cover a lot of this and do so in a more structured way.

what do you all think?

Hi @salman! I think the scope of this Mission Request is quite large and it’s hard for me to identify the concrete impact this Mission hopes to achieve. If this is a start-to-finish initiative, how will we know when it can be marked done? Please remember, Missions are not meant to support ongoing services, they are meant to support specific initiatives and impact.

Missions v2

The Tier also seems quite high for this request

Hi @lavande - the scope of this mission is to be done in a year.

as mentioned in request - the mission is to improve marketing for projects in the Optimism ecosystem.
Implementation can be done through a year - with every quarter showcasing 8 projects for a total of 32 projects in a year.
Organizer is responsible for all co-ordination and grants council can choose the best candidate.

Have changed the tier to Fledgling.

hadn’t noticed that mission request. yes, i think it is a great initiative and broadly both these mission requests serve the same purpose.

This is a very nice proposal, would be great to add existing projects to the campaign and not just new projects

Hey @salman – just wanted to flag this as a proposal that still needs delegate approvals in order to move to a vote. If you are no longer interested in pursuing this proposal – please disregard this message. In order to see the delegates assigned to your proposal those can be found here

Cheers!

I am curious about the overlap with @Gonna.eth’s proposal but in general, I firmly believe we should boost are marketing budget this year.

I’m an Optimism delegate with sufficient voting power and I believe this proposal is ready to move to a vote!
