Cycle 25 Grants final roundup

Welcome to our first of six reports on the Grants Council’s activities at the end of each cycle. In this report, we reflect on the challenges faced during Cycle 25.

We acknowledge that the fast-paced review process and some export issues with Charmverse limited our ability to provide comprehensive feedback. We are addressing this issue with the Charmverse team and have decided to push all non-approved applications to the next cycle to allow them to incorporate the feedback. Badly formatted comments here until further notice.

For the next cycle, submission is always open, with a deadline at the end of the first week (intake) on Tuesday. Applications submitted after this deadline will be considered for the following cycle.

We received 50 applications and managed to review 100% of them at each milestone. However, due to time constraints, only three reviewers had full context for final decision-making. To resolve this, we will divide the review process into two groups of six Grants Council members each.

The Developer Advisory Board provided valuable feedback during the final review, but we understand that incorporating it in just 24 hours was insufficient. Going forward, we will provide preliminary review lists earlier to allow applicants and reviewers more time to consider DAB feedback.

We want to thank the DAB for their prompt and precise input. At this point, no applications have been declined unless mission requests are fulfilled. Applications not approved will be carried over to the next cycle for additional review by three more Grants Council members.

To Superchain grant applicants: We appreciate your interest in our program and apologize for any inconvenience caused by the postponement of decision-making to the next cycle. This allows us more time to thoroughly evaluate applications. We encourage you to refine your proposals and address areas of improvement identified by reviewers.

Wow, super excited to see the results!

My application “Open-source Transaction Debugger and Simulator” states “Conditionally Approved”. Can you share more information about this status, specifically what is the condition for getting a final approval?

Yes, we are 15k OP short for the Mission request budget and we will request both projects to lower 7.5K of their requests so we can approve both. I was about to comment on the applications.

Me and the rest of Blockful team appreciate the trust of OP community in our work once more.

We will get to work right away.

Is it preferable for us to keep our updates to the community limited to the milestones field on charmverse, or is it better to have an “updates thread” on the forum? And if the thread is better, what would be the best area?

Forum communication thread to show your progress. Comment in the application with a tag to Pgov to report milestone completion.

For the teams that got “Moved to next Cycle (26)” is there an indicative process we should follow?

  1. Should we just update our original applications in response to the Cycle 25 feedback in the comments?
  2. How is the re-review process conducted? Is there known deadline for this?

Thanks!

  1. Update and leave a comment in your application about the changes you made.
  2. Yes reviewers are conducting preliminary scoring this week and will do final scoring next week. 3 different reviewers will be scoring your application.

Cycle 26 final roundup will be published on the 29th Thursday.
