New DA options for the OP Stack

Optimism expands the integrations with the OP Stack’s Alt-DA Mode for alternative data availability methods. Now, teams can also use Near DA and 0G.

This means any team looking to build on the OP Stack can now use: EigenDA, Celestia, Avail, Near DA, or 0G for their data availability needs.

Solving Interoperability by OP Labs

The OP Labs Team published a new post on Optimism’s push towards bringing interoperability to the Superchain to build a unified chain experience by adopting standardized cross-ecosystem interfaces. This aims to foster greater accessibility and more innovation.

“A multi-chain structure of the Superchain requires advanced technical capabilities to ensure a secure communication layer within the platform. This layer will comprise the message passing protocol, the Superchain token standard, interop fault proof, and a set of interoperable chains.”

We’re in Voting Cycle #26: Review Period

Security Council Nomination Approvals & Town Hall

Nominations for the Security Council are officially closed!

Each nominee can still receive the necessary approvals from 8 of the Top 100 delegates until August 19th. Approved candidates will then be part of an Election Town Hall hosted on August 20th. Elections will take place during Voting Cycle #26, 6 months before elected members take their position.

Trust Tiers 2.0

Trust Tiers will not be used in Season 6 in order to build a new, more effective reputation model that can predict whether a team will successfully complete a grant. New Trust Tiers will be built using a machine learning model, using various trust signals as input data to predict a continuous trust score for each project.

For now, the Collective will focus on developing new trust signals and recording existing ones (Persistent Profiles, Retro Funding awards, Mission Requests projects) with attestations.

Retro funding 5: Guest voter selection & Method

Round 5 will experiment with guest expert voters. These were selected based on their GitHub contribution graph using a modified EigenTrust algorithm, which can be run on graphs to measure the impact of recursive trust propagation. The algorithm was developed with Karma3Labs and Open Source Observer incorporating GitHub Repos and GitHub Users.

Sign up for Retro Funding 5 will begin on Aug 22nd (next Thursday!) until Sept 5th. If you’re a contributor to the OP Stack, this round is for you! Learn more details about the round
