Here’s an update on what we’ve been up to until today.
Voting
[Vote] Upgrade 16 Proposal: Interop Contracts, Stage 1, and Go 1.23 Support in Cannon - Voted FOR
We reviewed the proposed technical upgrade with L2BEAT’s research team. We found the outlined changes—interop-ready contracts, removal of the Deputy Guardian role, and increased gas limit—to be sensible and beneficial.
[Vote] Budget Board Advisory Proposal for the DAO Operating Budget for Seasons 8 and 9 - Voted FOR
We reviewed the Optimism DAO operating budget proposal for Seasons 8 & 9 and believe it’s solid overall, despite some remaining reserves. However, if OP’s price drops sharply, we think introducing a buffer to protect council compensation is worth exploring.
[Vote] Security Council Season 7 Retroactive Funding Request - Voted FOR.
The Security Council’s role has grown considerably, and this proposal rightly compensates its members for their expanded responsibilities. We also believe that future funding should shift towards a stable, long-term model, rather than relying on recurring seasonal proposals. For these reasons, we voted FOR.
[Vote] Security Council Elections Cohort A Members - Voted FOR 7 different candidates.
As with previous elections, we selected our Security Council candidates based on a set of internal criteria defined by our governance team and informed by our research team’s recommendations. Our evaluation focused on the following key aspects:
-
Technical Expertise and Security Track Record
Candidates and organizations with a strong background in smart contract security, protocol design, and infrastructure reliability were prioritized. We value those who can independently verify and assess complex technical decisions.
-
Governance and Ecosystem Contribution
We gave preference to entities that have consistently demonstrated integrity, transparency, and active participation in decentralized governance.
-
Independence and Diversity
We sought a balanced mix of individual and institutional candidates, ensuring diversity in both organizational background and perspective, to strengthen the Council’s independence and resilience.
Based on these criteria, we voted in favor of the following candidates:
-
Agora
-
Cyfrin
-
Emiliano
-
Mariano
-
pablito.eth
-
Uniswap Foundation
-
Velodrome
We believe this combination brings together a strong mix of technical competence, governance experience, and ecosystem representation, qualities essential for maintaining a secure and accountable Security Council.
We also appreciate all nominees for their willingness to contribute to the protocol’s long-term success and recognize the increasingly high standards of this election cycle, which is a positive sign for the ecosystem’s maturity.
[Vote] Security Council Elections: Cohort A Lead - Voted FOR.
Although this particular election had only one candidate, we believe that Alisha’s experience will be positive for leading the SC during this new term. So we decided to vote for her.
