[READY TO VOTE] Onboarding Prominent Content Creators in Strategic Markets to OP and RPGF

The following is a sponsored mission request:

Onboarding Prominent Content Creators in Strategic Markets to OP and RPGF

Delegate Mission Request Summary:
This mission aims to create engaging campaigns with crypto content creators who have large native crypto following. Most marketing efforts fail to produce desired results (increase in users, gov participation and buy pressure) because they focus on copy pasta strategies and teams often lack experience and an audience they can convert to users and ecosystem participants. Onboarding a diverse set of established creators serving strategic markets allows marketing efforts to create quantifiable results.

Each Mission Request must be submitted listing one Intent. As Mission Requests are rank ordered under each Intent until the budget for that Intent runs out, a Mission Request cannot be evaluated under multiple Intents. Please pick the Intent you think is most appropriate.

It is also hard for me to identify what the start-to-finish initiative is here. Mission Requests are not meant to support the provision of ongoing services but rather tangible initiatives that can be marked done. If that is meant to be the case in this proposal, it would be helpful to clarify what the specific deliverables are.

I don’t understand this point here?

Wouldn’t this go against the ethos of retroPGF?

Can you elaborate on how this goes against the ethos of retroPGF? I understand the ethos of retroPGF as impact=profit. This formatting prevents managers or intermediaries from gaining profit unless they have created impact.

Yes, I understand the same thing, but I think it also has a context. The context that at least I understand is that the impact=benefit is determined by the bagholders, I don’t think it is part of the spirit to prohibit them from participating in retroPGF or from a mission to decide whether they have generated impact or not.

This doesn’t prohibit them from RPGF. It prohibits them from being paid up front for being a “manager” for a mission. I find some proposed administration fees are high compared to what gets forwarded to the people executing the work. If the mission is successful, it should garner a decent rpgf reward.

GM @Carlosjmelgar @Michael

I think onboarding content creators to OP and RPGF is a great idea. Optimism has a very appealing vision, strong incentives and plenty of supporting documentation and material. I think it would largely benefit from connecting to big accounts and their audiences.

That said, I have some questions since I don’t completely understand the Mission:

  • The mkt campaigns will involve OP projects (say Velodrome), not Optimism itself. Is that correct?
  • The team executing the Mission will onboard and support the content creators on the campaigns. What tasks does this support include specifically?
  • Will the content creators be paid with the funds from the Mission or should they expect to be rewarded by RetroPGF only? In the former case, what is the % that the team executing the Mission will receive for their onboarding and support?

Exactly!

The team should onboard creators, connect with OP based projects in need of marketing support, plan and schedule content, track and report impact.

The content creators should receive an equal split of the OP. 100% of the OP is used to compensate the creators and/or forward to their audiences. The team executing the mission receives 0% and applies for retroPGF.

I like this Mission Request. Feels very well thought through and aims at high-expertise marketers.

How are prominent content creators defined?

I like this concept! Will it be up to the team that executes the mission to determine which projects require marketing support or will there be a way for projects to apply?

That’s a good question. I would use a combination of metrics; follower count, engagement rate, history of community engaging onchain.

It would be up to the team. It would be interesting to have a split of 3 chosen by team and 3 elected by their people in the OP ecosystem. I would love to see this focus on projects that generate sequencer fees.

Thanks for the tag. I am still interested in seeing this proposal be approved.

I think this is a well written proposal and will have a lot of impact on the collective, we should spend more on marketing IMO. The most interesting thing here is it is like a growth grant where team gets nothing (goes for RetroPGF) and the rewards pass throught to the content creators.
