Onchain Summer is here!
Coinbase and Base are hosting the second edition of Onchain Summer. You can submit and showcase your project by submitting it to the Onchain Registry and join the Onchain Summer Buildathon, with 200 ETH in prizes across 8 sponsored tracks and a bonus pool. Read more
Optimism will allocate 600,000 OP for Onchain Summer incentives! Onchain Summer Rounds will distribute 60k OP in weekly rounds to creators and builders across eligible Superchain networks during Onchain Summer, from June 3 to August 30. Learn how to join Rounds.
Optimism at ETHCC: Optimistic Gathering & Superchain Space
Connect with the Optimism community at ETHCC!
-
The Optimistic Gathering is a community driven event for the Collective organized by Node Guardians and Only Dust with 20+ panels, talks and workshops. Date: July 9th.
-
Superchain Eco and Kolektivo Labs are organizing the Superchain Space, a collaboration hub for the Collective with roundtables, cow-working and more. Date: July 8th to July 9th.
Lisk Mainnet Launch
Lisk L2 is now on mainnet and officially joins the Superchain by contributing sequencer revenue towards the Optimism. “Lisk Devnet takes off as the first L1 to migrate to Optimism’s unifying network of rollups built with OP Stack”. The Superchain brings asset bridging without fragmentation, OP Collective Governance, access to Retro Funding, among other benefits to Lisk.
Ham Chain L3 Superchain ecosystem
Built using the OP Stack and Celestia on Base, Ham Chain provides users and developers with fast, low-cost transactions and a robust platform for creating novel onchain social experiences. It will now benefit from the Superchain’s extensive network, technologies, and shared resources.

Protocol Upgrade #9: Fjord Network Upgrade
Following Ecotone Network Upgrade, this upgrade proposal for OP Mainnet includes:
- Implementation of Rollup Improvement Proposal 7212 (RIP-7212) which includes a new precompile for an elliptic Curve (secp256r1), widely used in devices such as Apple’s Secure Enclave or Webauthn. The introduction of this precompiled contract enables features in account abstraction which allows more efficient and flexible management of accounts by transaction signs in mobile devices. Read more about RIP-7212.
- Introduces Brotli, a new compression algorithm, which would bring a 5-15% reduction in L1 data availability cost, resulting in cheaper transactions.
- Introduces FastLZ, a compression algorithm. This implementation improves the estimation of the compressibility of each transaction, leading to more accurate pricing.
Parameter changes
-
Increasing the time in max sequencer drift, allowing for chain operators to have more time to respond to L1 node outage issues before the L2 chain stalls (30 minutes instead of 10 minutes).
-
Increasing the limit to 100mb of the channel, preventing the chance of a L2 block exceeding the current 10mb channel size and failing to post on L1 to progress the chain.
The proposal has received the required approvals and will move to a Token House vote on Special Voting Cycle #23b, from June 13th - June 20th.

Protocol Upgrade #7 and #8 and Governor Upgrade #2 were approved
Proposals have been officially approved following the conclusion of the Citizens House veto vote.
L1 contracts will be upgraded to include Fault Proofs (Protocol Upgrade #7) and Guardian, Security Council Threshold and L2 ProxyAdmin Ownership (Protocol Upgrade #8). No action is required by node operators, as this change affects contracts only. The Optimism Foundation admin will set the new implementation of governor proxy to implement Governor Upgrade #2.
Chain Delegation Program Amendment Proposal
This proposal aims to amend the Chain Delegation Program increasing its size to 20M OP to support the first 15 OP Chains during their initial year of governance participation. Eligibility and performance will be reassessed at the start of each season.
OP Chains can qualify for:
- 250k OP delegation by generating over 1 ETH in sequencer revenue for at least two consecutive months and being listed in the Superchain Registry.
- Additional 1M OP delegation if they achieve a transaction volume of at least 1M per month for two consecutive months.
- Chains operating on the Standard Configuration can receive 500k OP, meaning a combined total of 1.5M delegation for these chains.
Chains must opt-in and commit to specific governance responsibilities to be added to the program. Read the full Amendment.
Anticapture Commission Amendment Proposal
The ACC aims to prevent the capture of the Token House by any single stakeholder group. Based on member feedback, amendments to the Commission Charter have been proposed to refine its mandate and goals. These include alerting the Citizens’ House to power imbalances, voting on proposals subject to veto. Membership criteria has also been updated, requiring high impact delegates with significant voting participation, and excluding Council Leads.
Amendment proposals will be voted on during Special Voting Cycle #23b (June 13th - June 20th).
