GM! If you want to see the VERY rough prototype of what we are building, check this link:
(You must hold OP to vote with that link).
Voting in DAOs shouldnāt be work, it should be fun. Thatās what we are trying to do and RetroPGF needs it ASAP!
Pairwise uses the same scoring algorithm that has been used to rank chess players and football teams for years, we want to take that algo and combine it with an simple UX to make RetroPGF a fun experience for every badgeholder.
Thank you for considering us in this round of voting.

I wanted to share a demo version of the Pairwise system weāre developing so you can get a taste of what weāre aiming to achieve. The version that badgeholders will have will be even better! . As Griff mentioned, voting in DAOs should be enjoyable, not work. We believe we can make RetroPGF an engaging and super enjoyable experience for every badgeholder."
This video is very helpful and Pairwise would be extremely helpful for RPGF voting! Iām hoping we will be able to use this for the upcoming round of RPGF.
+1 for the use of Pairwise in RPGF voting!
I still think amount is high but the value add is potentially good here. I will vote for this.
Iāll be voting yes. The amount requested is high but itās a product that I feel would be extremely useful for RPGF voting since itās something I would love to use myself as the last round of voting was overwhelming for me.
Thank you, @Linda and @Lefterisjp for your trust. We aim to create an environment where badgeholders can invest their time in their areas of expertise, all while enjoying a fun gaming experience. I canāt divulge more details at the moment, but I believe itās going to be both fun and engaging.
Hello Optimism Community,
Weāre excited to present our progress on the first milestone of the Optimism Pairwise Assessment Program. As we approach the expected completion date of August 15th, weāve made significant strides in developing and implementing the core functionalities of the Pairwise system.
What Weāve Achieved:
1. Interfaces for Viewing: Developed interfaces for spaces, votes, and projects.
2. Voting Mechanism: Implemented a user-friendly voting system.
3. Personal Pairwise Rankings: Enabled users to view their personal Pairwise rankings post-voting.
4. We have prepared the infrastructure for hosting many voting experiences for RetroPGFs and beyond. However, these capabilities are not already integrated with our frontend at this stage. We can use hierarchical voting to simplify the voting experience and deliver the most accurate ranking with the least pairwise votes in the areas you think will impact Optimism most. You can access our backend repo to check out the infrastructure and the pairwise algorithm here

In the video, when I compare two projects and mention which one should receive funds, thatās not entirely accurate. To put it simply, it works similarly to the ELO system in video games. When your project is compared against another with more points and you come out on top, you gain more points than if you were up against a project with fewer points. The same principle applies when losing points. Itās not about downvoting other projects; itās about indicating which one is superior to the other. This method is adopted because itās easier to compare two things rather than labeling something as good or bad. For instance, itās challenging to determine if spending 10k on design is a wise choice. However, comparing whether 10k is better spent on design or development becomes much clearer. (For more details, refer to the Colony whitepaper).

The map I showcase at the end provides a glimpse of how the game will appear in future milestones.

Hello Optimism Community,
Weāre elated to bring forth the developments pertaining to the second milestone of the Optimism Pairwise Assessment Program. As weāve now reached our projected completion date of August 29th, it gives us immense pride to share the significant enhancements weāve made to the Pairwise system.
What Weāve Achieved:
-
Hierarchical Voting System: We have successfully developed and integrated a hierarchical Pairwise voting system. This feature allows badgeholders to compare projects not only at an individual level but also within broader categories and subcategories.
-
Diverse Assessment Interfaces: Introduced specialized interfaces that cater to different levels of assessment, from general categories to specific project details.
-
Enhanced Scalability: With the introduction of this hierarchical system, weāve made sure our backend remains robust, seamlessly handling the diverse range of comparisons.

Hello Optimism Community,
Weāre thrilled to announce the successful completion of the third milestone of the Optimism Pairwise Assessment Program. As we hit our target completion date of September 14th, weāre eager to share the advancements weāve made, particularly in integrating attestations with Snapshot voting.
What Weāve Achieved:
- Attestation Integration with Snapshot: We have successfully integrated an attestation feature into Snapshotās development mode. While weāre still refining a product version, our aim is to extend voting rights to all citizens of the Optimism ecosystem, ensuring a more inclusive and democratic voting process not only on Pairwise, on Snapshot too.
- Seamless User Experience: The attestation feature is intuitively designed, enabling users to effortlessly verify their credentials and participate in the voting process. It integrates seamlessly with the Pairwise dapp.
- Backend Robustness: Weāve strengthened our backend to accommodate the increased data flow from attestations, guaranteeing stable operations.

Weāre thrilled to announce the successful completion of Milestone #4 of the Optimism Pairwise proposal. Weāre eager to share the advancements weāve made in enhancing the Pairwise system.
What Weāve Achieved:
- Flexible Vote Allocation: Weāve developed a feature that empowers participants to manually adjust the percentage allocation of their votes. This ensures a tailored voting experience, aligning with individual preferences and insights.
- Intuitive User Interface: The adjustment mechanism is seamlessly integrated, providing an intuitive experience for users. Whether youāre reallocating votes or locking in specific project percentages, the process is smooth and user-centric.
- Backend Enhancements: To support this feature, our backend has been optimized to handle dynamic vote adjustments, ensuring data integrity and real-time updates.
Resources:
- Staging Demo: Weāre currently sharing a staging demo of the Pairwise Voting System. To transition to a live version, we require the real data from RetroPGF. In the interim, weāll be collaborating closely with the Supermodular team to integrate our system with the voting app theyāre developing to share lists with them.
