Hi @stephanschwab

I appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to build in public. :clap:t3::clap:t3::clap:t3:

To be honest, it’s hard for me to understand and keep up with all your creations :sweat_smile: , but I wanted to confirm that you’re aware of the eligibility criteria for Retro Funding this season:

Please let me know if I can help with anything.

Hi @alexsotodigital ! Thanks a lot for your message :folded_hands:

I understand it can feel hard to follow all my updates. To make it easier: I have a pinned thread on Twitter that collects all my work in one place – https://x.com/stephan1516417/status/1968622163797176444. On the forum, I can also re-organize and “package” everything more clearly as one connected story: building cultural and onboarding public goods for Optimism (:backhand_index_pointing_right: I have a question for you: would it be more useful if I structure the forum topic so that there are the main works, and under each of them — updates with metrics (plus a clear summary at the top for easier navigation?))

Yes, I’ve read the Retro Funding eligibility criteria and I’m aware of them. My work is not about TVL — it’s about culture, education, and onboarding. That’s why I document metrics like GitHub activity, forum and article views, NFT owners, game players, and onchain participation (Oath…).

Even Gonna recently confirmed that “we are one piece of the Superchain specialized in this part of growth.” For me, that is a strong signal that cultural and educational impact is also recognized.

In fact, my contribution is closer to projects like Bankless, EthHub, Ethereum Cat Herders, or Dark Forest — none of them had TVL, but all received RetroPGF for cultural, educational, or playful onboarding impact.

Retro Funding is evaluated by badgeholders, not only by TVL. I started building in May and I really enjoy it — Optimism feels like the future to me. That’s why I’m committed to keep contributing long-term. And I’m here for the long term — steadily building, attracting newcomers, and creating lasting value for Optimism :rocket:

P.S. I’m open to your feedback — if you think another format would make everything clearer for new Optimists, for those already in the Superchain, and for badgeholders, I’ll be happy to adapt.

I’m building an ecosystem on Optimism — not isolated projects, but one connected story that combines culture, education, games, NFTs, and onchain artifacts. This is my long-term contribution to the Superchain. :brick: :saluting_face: :heart:

Hi @stephanschwab;

My suggestion is to focus everything on Atlas. That would be:

  • Create a profile
  • Create an “organization”
  • Create a project

You can create it here: https://atlas.optimism.io/

In Atlas, you can see how your projects align with the current season’s Retro Funding programs.

Of course, you are free to work on public goods, and manage it as best suits you, but it’s important to keep in mind that compensation will be based on established metrics (currently focusing on Dev Tooling and Onchain Builders, as I shared with you).

These metrics serve to channel the energy that is added towards the collective intent.

Anyway, let me know if this is clear or I can help in some way.

:slight_smile:

Hi @alexsotodigital

Thank you so much for your advice — it really helped me, I’m very grateful :folded_hands:

I originally published my project on Atlas on July 26, but not through an organization. Now I’ve created an organization and I’m adding all my projects there — it already looks much brighter and more compact!

I have a few questions:
• Is my organization (and the projects inside it) now officially registered for this season?
• The project I published on July 26 — is it still shown as registered, or do I need to re-submit it under the organization?
• I plan to finish adding all projects within 2 days.
• For some onchain projects (like the Oath contract), I still have questions about signing the contract (hash verification) — could you clarify how best to handle that part?

Thanks again for your guidance!

— Stephan

@stephanschwab

Once you’ve created your projects, you must apply to the grant you consider appropriate (in this case, Dev Tooling and/or Onchain Builders).

There, you can select the corresponding project and see if it meets the eligibility criteria.
As I understand it, you’ll see there which project fits each program.

And based on that feedback, you can modify the project so that it meets the criteria needed.

Either way, I’m tagging @maxwell, who leads the onboarding efforts (and probably has more context), in case anything needs to be clarified.

I stay tuned and at your disposal.
