About LXDAO

LXDAO is a decentralized organization dedicated to supporting the sustainability of public goods and open-source projects. Our mission is to create an infinite cycle of public goods sustainability.

As an R&D-focused DAO, LXDAO governs through an Optimism-based Soulbound Token (SBT) system using a “one person, one vote” model. With a community of over 1,000 members, more than 100 actively participate in governance.

LXDAO also implements a unique “IntensiveCoLearning” model, having conducted nine iterations to date. This program guides members through 21 consecutive days of deep learning in areas such as Web3, governance narratives, and cryptography. It has engaged over 350 participants, with an average dropout rate of approximately 60%, fostering dedication and resilience among those who complete it.

Furthermore, LXDAO consistently hosts or participates in public goods promotion events. For example, in 2024, the Ethereum.Summer of Public Goods took place across nine cities, including locations in China, the United States, Canada, and France, with approximately 270 participants.

Governance Working Group

We are the LXDAO Governance working group, specializing in resource allocation, proposal review, project management, and public goods development. With a wealth of experience, LXDAO has successfully incubated over 15 public goods projects.

Our goal is to bring LXDAO’s governance expertise to Optimism, combining the governance practices of both ecosystems to advance the decentralization of DAOs and contribute to Ethereum’s broader vision.

Through our governance journey using Optimism-based SBTs, we’ve encountered and resolved various governance conflicts and coordination challenges, providing us with valuable insights into decentralized decision-making.

Message to the Community and Ecosystem

We are honored to have the opportunity to serve as a Delegate in the Optimism ecosystem and help shape its future. Our mission aligns closely with Optimism’s vision, and we are committed to fostering a sustainable future for public goods.

Optimism’s RetroPGF mechanism introduces an innovative way to retroactively reward public goods, ensuring their long-term sustainability. LXDAO complements this approach by leveraging governance and R&D expertise to bring public goods from idea to implementation.

At LXDAO, we focus on the infinite cycle of public goods sustainability. To achieve this, we have developed robust practices in governance, project management, and resource allocation:

  • Governance Mechanisms: With over two years of governance experience, LXDAO has navigated governance conflicts and coordination issues, equipping us with practical solutions and insights.
  • Resource Allocation: We have conducted numerous resource allocation experiments, both online and offline. Leveraging our in-house on-chain contribution protocol, FairSharing, we enable contributors to self-report, vote, and track contributions transparently on-chain.
  • Project Management: LXDAO excels in managing projects from ideation to execution. Through structured working groups and project teams, we guide ideas through soft proposals, hard proposals, contribution management, team building, and final implementation.

How We Vote

We will vote in favor of proposals that align with the goals of the Optimism Collective, with a particular focus on:

  • Fair and effective resource allocation
  • Decentralization
  • Coordination and interoperability
  • Public goods sustainability

How We Delegate

LXDAO is committed to encouraging broader participation in Optimism governance. We plan to use the OP tokens received from RetroPGF3 to support our delegation program and attract more members to become active delegates.

Conclusion

With over two years of experience in public goods and governance, LXDAO is eager to contribute to Optimism’s unique position in the ecosystem. Optimism’s governance initiatives are among the most innovative we’ve encountered, and we are thrilled to be part of this journey.

Our primary goal is to use the knowledge we’ve gained over the past few years to help Optimism and its community grow. We’ve been inspired by Optimism since day one and are excited to deepen our involvement!
