Hello all My name is gintama i have previously been deeply involved in web3 governance and this is my first post on optimism forum .
before i go in-depth about myself - if fellow community members can guide me about where to learn about governance on optimism will be highly appreciated.
What all should i read and learn.
Now coming back to myself -
I started my journey in Cardano , was deeply involved in the community there and contributed to the current governance in various segments, by working there i got deeply involved in Governance and DAOs, and now i am on a learning journey across blockchain industry to grow myself even more and share my insights and expirence.
I am a budding Governance Architect , i hope my fellow members and seniors will take care of me and guide me .
Pleased to meet you all.
Welcome to the Optimism Collective, Gintama great to see another governance-focused contributor from India here.
For getting up to speed on Optimism governance, I’d suggest starting with:
The Optimism Collective docs (charter, Citizen’s House & Token House design, fault proofs, etc.)
Recent governance votes and proposals on this forum, especially around Seasons, Missions and the new Council / committee structures
Any active RFCs about changes to governance processes or delegate requirements
Since you already have Cardano governance experience, you might find it interesting to compare how Optimism’s bicameral “Citizens + Token House” approach differs from on-chain parameter voting in Cardano and what that implies for incentive design, legitimacy and coordination.
I’m also working in DAO governance research myself, happy to cross-share notes or point you to specific threads if you tell me which areas (delegation, funding rounds, protocol upgrades, etc.) you’re most curious about. @Gintama-statecraft
Thanks for the reply and guidance , is there a website or links where i can read the charter , and other documents . and as i am new to optimism would appreciate your patience to guide me around and answer some questions i may have while going through the process ( i can ask AI , but i still find human interaction and helping more important to understand the governance of the chain haha)
Thanks for sharing the info , it was a great read , but these above links are showing 404 error , any guidance to better understand these will help me / it shows some maybe private too
also here its written that after 4 years there will be a ceded permamnent bedrock constitution is there any update or progress on it that i can read through or look into
A transitory document. The Working Constitution will remain in effect no more than four years from the date of its adoption. After that, authority over governance will be ceded to a permanent Bedrock Constitution (that incorporates the lessons of the Collective’s prior governance experiments).
Given that the Working Constitution is designed to expire after ~4 years, I wanted to ask about the current status and roadmap for the permanent Bedrock Constitution.
The Season 9 vision, where the Collective explicitly talks about moving “from experiment to organization” and mentions “Towards a Bedrock Constitution ”:
