The GFX Labs governance liaison does not have a technical background, but has access to multiple senior engineers.

GFX Labs is most well known for governance work at Optimism, MakerDAO, Uniswap, 0x, Arbitrum, Compound, and Hop.

GFX served on the previous Growth Subcommittee, as well as DeFi Committee A (a precursor to the existing grants structure).
Please describe your philosophy on what makes a good Governance Fund grant:
Successful, strong grants are those that aim to migrate some combination of users, assets, and developers to Optimism that were not previously on Optimism. Chains, including Layer 2s, are frontiers, and their value is determined by the number and quality of those that settle them.
What types of grant applications do you think will help achieve Intent #2?
We prefer to evaluate grant plans on a case-by-case basis, and don’t have existing priors except that they clearly target migrating users, assets, and developers to Optimism who are currently not engaged or only lightly engaged with Optimism.

GFX Labs is active in governance and development of multiple protocols. Current and recent relationships include Uniswap, MakerDAO, 0x, Optimism, Arbitrum, Wormhole, Interest Protocol, Hop, and Compound.
