What is Dark Forest Punk?
Dark Forest is a fully onchain, space strategy game built around cosmic exploration and competition. It uses zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs to hide planet coordinates on a public blockchain.
The original Dark Forest development was discontinued in 2022, and our team began maintaining and expanding the mod version in 2023, and has been continuously developing and iterating with the long-term vision of building an onchain reality universe.
Dark Forest Punk R1 is our latest public testing event in this ongoing development journey.
Highlights of Dark Forest Punk R1
11 New Materials
Using Onchain Procedural Generation, planets in different locations have distinct biome attributes. Based on these biomes, Asteroid Fields can yield 11 new types of materials, each providing different score bonuses for players. In the future, these materials could serve as the foundation for building a rich tech tree.
Self-Sustainable System
Systems that rely too heavily on external resource injection are usually hard to sustain long-term. In the latest round, we experimented with designing a self-sustainable system.
Players receive a free quota of planets when entering the game. However, if they want to occupy more planets, they need to inject ETH into the world contract, which then contributes to the player reward pool.
Other inputs to the world contract, such as move fees and create guild fees, are used to maintain materials and artifacts in the future. More details can be found in our docs.
