Ethereum TGU - Delegate Communication Thread

As the leading members of the Ethereum Community in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, we are happy to become active members of the OP Token House and look forward to contributing to the growth of the governance process in the OP ecosystem.

Here is a brief background about us and our stance on what we consider key points:

Ethereum TGU was founded in 2018 to foster an open, grassroots community for anyone interested in Ethereum as a problem-solving technology. We believe that education is a crucial component of community growth. We host free educational activities on topics such as ZK, DeFi, NFTs, programmable cryptography, governance, and more.

From the beginning, we committed to being active participants in the Infinite Garden. Our activities focus on:

  • Organizing events such as monthly meetups, bootcamps, hackathons, and private quadratic funding rounds for local public goods—all aimed at onboarding and educating.
  • Engaging with key groups to drive blockchain and Ethereum education, fostering adoption in Honduras.
  • Supporting individual initiatives from Hondurans in the Ethereum ecosystem, helping them grow based on their unique interests, abilities, and ideas.
  • Continuously innovating and experimenting with practices that enhance our community’s growth while contributing to the broader ecosystem.
  • Collaborating on projects, sharing ideas, best practices, and lessons learned with both national and international communities to strengthen outreach, education, and adoption efforts.

Our message to the community and ecosystem:

We’ve seen firsthand how Optimism is committed to supporting communities and regions. We’re submitting our delegation to help continue the decentralization of the protocol and bring a fresh perspective. We are active, bilingual contributors (Spanish and English), offering insights from the fields of building, governance, project management, communication, and community engagement.

Builders

Web3 holds amazing potential for people seeking learning and job opportunities that might not be easily accessible. For builders to grasp these opportunities, they need access to proper tooling, documentation, and onboarding spaces. We want to collaborate in co-creating these spaces to expand opportunities for builders.

Community

Community is key to fostering collaboration and mutual support. Mutual aid and shared values are essential for a thriving community. Community spaces build trust, create opportunities, and encourage collective growth, helping individuals advance in their own pursuits. This is our main objective in Honduras—particularly in Tegucigalpa—and we aim to expand those borders and engage with communities around the world.

Experimentation

Experimentation is essential to evolving the processes and tools we have at our disposal. We are always eager to test new ideas and approaches that could benefit our communities.

Decentralization

Diverse perspectives are essential to forming a complete picture, and we seek innovative ideas that drive growth. Our unique viewpoint stems from our experience with Ethereum in a developing country, overcoming challenges and contributing across multiple areas to empower and ensure project success.

Security

Security is one of the most important elements to consider when improving a protocol in the Ethereum ecosystem, as the network handles high-value assets and operates in a trustless, decentralized environment. Vulnerabilities can be exploited by malicious actors. As members of this governance process, we want to work hand-in-hand with the rest of the delegates to propose new ways to better secure the protocol.

Governance

Governance determines how decisions are made, who has the authority to propose or implement changes, and how consensus is reached among stakeholders. Effective governance ensures that protocol upgrades reflect the interests of the community, maintain decentralization, and adapt to evolving needs without compromising security or fairness. This is where we, as a delegate, stand and are ready to support any initiatives that improve this process.

Privacy

While the transparency of Web3 is valuable for trust and auditability, it can also expose sensitive user information and financial behavior—potentially leading to targeted attacks or a loss of competitive advantage. Enhancing privacy helps protect user data and supports use cases requiring confidentiality. We consider this a key element that is sometimes overlooked, and we are committed to working on better ways to safeguard information.

Sustainability

Long-term viability depends on the efficient use of resources, environmental responsibility, and adaptability to future demands. As Ethereum continues to grow in adoption and usage, sustainable design is crucial to minimizing energy consumption, reducing network congestion, and maintaining economic incentives for participants. We would love to see this topic discussed more and will actively support any initiatives related to sustainability.
