Announcing Super Contributor Cohort 0

After approval of our Mission Request, we’re excited to start Super Contributor Cohort 0! :red_circle:

The Super Contributor Cohort is a six-week co-learning track for Superchain contributors. The cohort teaches new and existing Optimism Collective members the insights and skills needed to become an elite Collective contributors.

The first cohort (Cohort 0) consists of the Optimism Contributor Essentials MOOC, Weekly Contributor Meetings, a series of onchain exercises, and a Contributor Meetup in Bangkok.

We are excited to announce that the Optimism Contributor Essentials digital course is now available to everyone who wants to dive deeper into the Optimism ecosystem and contribute to shaping the new internet.

The course provides the essential insights and skills needed to become a contributor to the Optimism Collective.

The first 200 to complete the course will receive 5 OP.

Reflections on Super Cohort 0

Super Contributor Cohort 0, a co-learning track for the Optimism Collective, has come to an exciting end. What a journey it has been!

When we opened applications, we were amazed by the response—hundreds of people from across the Superchain signed up, eager to learn and contribute. Although we initially planned to accept just 40 participants, the enthusiasm and quality of applicants led us to expand and welcome more contributors, each bringing unique talents and ideas.

Participants began their journey with a comprehensive introduction to Ethereum’s history and its scalability challenges. They explored how Optimism emerged as a solution, aiming to unleash Ethereum’s potential and summon Ether’s Phoenix.

Through the Optimism Contributor Essentials MOOC, they gained an in-depth understanding of the Optimism Collective’s structure, operations, and governance mechanisms, which drive the ecosystem forward.

The program was designed to teach and empower contributors to participate actively. Practical tools and exercises helped participants engage with the onchain economy, explore governance pathways, and develop their delegate profiles. This marked an important milestone, as each graduate can now step forward to play a role in the governance process with their first OP tokens delegated to them.

The program ended with a Cohort Meetup in Bangkok, where contributors worldwide connected in person. This event strengthened relationships and laid the foundation for future collaborations across the ecosystem.

To expand opportunities, we opened the Optimism Contributor Essential MOOC to everyone. The first 200 to complete the course and create a delegate profile received 5 OP to self-delegate and begin participating in governance.

Originally built for the Super Cohort, the full course is now publicly accessible, allowing anyone to follow the same learning track and begin their journey in the Optimism Collective. In total nearly 9,000 emails have joined our course.

The graduates of Super Cohort 0 and new MOOC participants are now ready to contribute to the new user-owned internet and Summon Ether’s Phoenix to life.

The Super Contributor program was a game changer for me.

I remember joining the first class unsure of what Optimism really meant, but leaving with clarity and renewed hunger to contribute to the Superchain, thanks to the insightful sessions co-hosted by @JashFi and @LuukDAO

One of the highlights was receiving funding support to kick-start my journey as an Optimism Governance Delegate. That opportunity, combined with the knowledge from the training, pushed me to go the extra mile.

Today, I spend my days deep in the Superchain ecosystem as a Dune Data Wizard.

It would be amazing to see even more Super Cohorts programs rolled out in the future.

The Super Cohort 0 program was an incredible experience.

The program was a great introduction for me into Optimism Governance and helped me to become a meaningful contributor to the collective. I was able to connect with like minded cohort members as well Luke and Jash the organisers throughout the course as well as in-person in Bangkok at Devcon.

I used the program to become a contributor initially as an Optimism Token holder, and now I’m also a Citizen House delegate, actively contributing to the Collective and sharing information about the OP Collective on Farcaster.

A personal highlight for me was meeting everyone in person in Bangkok and making lifelong connections.

Even though I was already quite familiar with the Optimism Collective—its mission, governance, and grant system—the Super Cohort was an incredibly refreshing and energizing experience! It reignited my excitement for Optimism and the Superchain, while giving me the chance to connect with amazing, like-minded Super Contributors.

The concepts were explained in a clear, engaging way, and the support throughout the journey to becoming Superchain contributors or governance delegates was outstanding. I’d be thrilled to join a second Super Cohort and dive into the latest updates on the Superchain and governance seasons!

As a participant in Super Contributor Cohort 0, I want to celebrate and thank you again, @JashFi and @LuukDAO, for your efforts. I invite any curious soul to experience the process for themselves. :dizzy:

Thanks to this @SuperchainEco training program, I dared to create my delegate statement, and boy have things happened for me since then. :purple_heart:

As someone passionate about onboarding, I fervently believe that having cohorts of potential contributors is a key tool for strengthening bonds and sharing culture.

I hope you continue to bring this energy to those who come after us. I also remain willing and available to do whatever I can to support you in this endeavor. :saluting_face:

The Super Cohort 0 program was very helpful to me in onboarding the eocsystem. It helped me shorten my learning curve and become a productive member of the community quickly. Greatly appreciate the cohort members and a huge shoutout to Luke and Jash - the organizers - for keeping it tight and super focussed.
