Project description (please explain how your project works): Optimism Nigeria is a regional hub in Nigeria. Its mission is to achieve Optimism chain goals in Nigeria and give a wide reach to Optimism network in Nigeria.

2% of 115,000 developers in Nigeria build with blockchain infrastructure and less than 1% blockchain innovation is used for public good in Africa.

Problems faced by optimism in Nigeria includes:

1.Low visibility for Optimism blockchain infrastructure in Nigeria

2.No public good project built with Optimism chain in Nigeria.

3. Misconception and lack of blockchain education.

4. No support for blockchain builders and developers in Nigeria.

Optimism Nigeria aims to provide solution to the problems listed above through the following:

1. Support public good project initiatives in Nigeria.

2. Regular blockchain training and education

3.Support builder and developers in Nigeria

4. Integrate & bridge web 2 businesses in Nigeria to web 3

How will the OP tokens be distributed? (please include % allocated to different initiatives such as user rewards/marketing/liquidity mining. Please also include a justification as to why each of these initiatives align with the problem statement this proposal is solving.):
Token will be distributed according to deliverables and milestones.

  • 3 Events & Hackathon in Nigeria - 6,000 OP

  • 10 video contents and 20 published articles in various Nigerian local languages - 2,000 OP

  • Weekly AMA and podcast about latest OP news - 1,000

Kindly note that the no-sale rule will be strictly adhered to. OP token will be distributed after completion of each milestones.

Why will incentivized users and liquidity on Optimism remain after incentives dry up?: Optimism Nigeria will continue to operate as a regional hub with and without incentives.

At this stage, applications are mainly being reviewed for completeness, and nothing at this stage should be construed as support or opposition by any members of the Grants Council.

It may also be worth noting that your grants appears to be more in-line with the “builders subcommittee” category. You can see more information about the builders category here and the growth experiments category here in order to decide which is best.

Also, a general comment is that this grant appears to be doing A LOT of different activities. My advice would be to cut down the size of the grant and focus on one of the more specific aspects of it, such as running hackathons.

Optimism Nigeria will focus on 3 major (events, articles and video publications, weekly AMA and podcast) activities to build Optimism in Nigeira.

Please kindly note that OP token will be distributed according to milestone and the No-sale rule will be strictly adhered to.

Optimism Nigeria already set up a Quest](QuestN Portal) account. This platform will help in the distribution of OP token to members of Optimism Nigeria with some sort of prove of work to verify they’re human and active member of the community.

This way, the no-sales rule will be monitored and all distribution will be transparent.

We have also created a guild account for optimism Nigeria to prove token gating and keep track of activities and new members in our community.

I hope the above distribution means does not fall afoul to the no-sale rule. Please kindly let me know what your thoughts are. I am happy to receive your feedback and answer any more questions.

Hello @supercoolkay can you please provide some information on the current number of users for your project? This is important when assessing the potential reach of your proposal.

Is there additional information you can provide here?

This is very vague and needs to include timelines and clear, measurable KPIs.

Overall, this proposal really needs to include more detail around your users, team and milestone assessment. It’s difficult to make a clear assessment of your proposal with the information given.

Optimism Nigeria is a new community in Nigeria which will have majority of its members from Nigeria and Africa.

However, I have good track record of community building. My team and I have helped Near protocol onboard over 1,000+ active users to web 3 via the Near x art community.

Core team members:

• Abdulkareeem Oladapo (co-founder/project lead) : A web 3 advocate with 20 months experience in community building. He has worked with Near protocol and helped them onboard over 1000+ active users and facilitated wallet and on chain transactions of up to 500+

Furthermore, he founded a community; Near x art which focuses on onboarding creative to web 3 and charitable contributions via the use of blockchain technology and web 3 tools.

Last year, he organized the biggest web 3 art and cultural fest with Near protocol which had an outpouring attendance and value creation.

• Adebimpe O. Project manager/marketing officer : An experienced quality assurance personnel with 18months experience in the web 3 space. She will be in charge of the supervision of activities in Optimism Nigeria such as content creation, newsletter, articles, event planning and onboarding.

• Olalekan Amoo : Skilled in Android & IOS development, front- end developmet, java script and C++. He will be charged with the duty of training and onboarding developers to build with Optimism blockchain infrastructure in Nigeria.

Measurable KPIs

• Grow Optimism community to 5,000 members - 3 to 6 months

• Onboard 100-200+ blockchain developers in Nigeria to build with Optimism blockchain infrastructure

• Weekly AMA about Optimism network - 3 - 6 months

• 3 IRL events in Nigeria strictly on Optimism goal and mission - 3 to 6 months

I have also been speaking with a team from Nigeria about their proposal for another project.

I’m excited to see where this proposal ends up and know how big of an impact this will have in the community where you are located.

Near protocol seems to be pretty popular in the region and can see why so many people are excited about becoming a part of the Optimism ecosystem. This is an amazing opportunity in order to introduce folks to this technology and I appreciate all of your efforts.
