[FINAL] Scry Protocol - Fully Decentralized and Independent Oracle and Data Infrastructure

Oracles are the single most centralized aspect of Ethereum and the general space, and there are no competitors to this project which offer people to source their own data or choose who they source data from, with every single other project having some kind of token model underpinning the security for every single protocol that uses their data. The largest oracles and feeds only have about 16 signers which need to be compromised to kill every contract using their data, with you not being able to choose who they are and some with very little information at all.

Would like to note that the grant isn’t for all what Jack has stated above, and that all of those were built, from the ground up, not based on forks, all without any compensation at all and are not targets, they are operational and ready to be used. And what am offering in this proposal is objectively higher scope than even the biggest competition who’s offer is only for selected networks, for custom designed contracts and with set signers providing the data, but the market values similar tokens for these projects in $bns, so what am offering here is a tokenless model, thats fully self sovereign, thats fully decentralized and independant, with higher capability to help with technical decentralization.

Im here to build free and open infrastructure, that allows people to choose where their data comes from, valuing real independance and decentralization above all else and those who value these values as highly as me hopefully will see the value here for the request, even if you do not. And even if dont receive this grant, will continue to do so, but appreciate those who support me to continue doing so.

Update have been grinding pretty much non stop last 3-4w to get pretty much all these milestones met.

  • Benchmark Milestone 1 (please include expected completion date for each)
Layer 1 support for data such as current block, state root hash.
Layer 1 support for calls to arbitrary contracts, for say ERC 20 balance lookups.
Arbitrary EVM network compatibility for contract state for ERC 20 and preset contract types using any RPC.
Arbitrary EVM network compatibility for contract state for ERC 20 and preset contract types using any RPC.
Arbitrary contract and ABI interface for access to any contracts data.
This has been deployed as per updates in and rather than focus on only L1, made it compatible with any EVM from the ground up

Hi @Pr0!

As Season 4 draws to a close this week, we’re so excited to see how you’ve executed on your Mission! Please post an update for the community here outlining the milestones you’ve met this Thursday (9/20) by 19:00 GMT. Please include links to any final work products as we’ll create a final roundup linking to all Mission deliverables.

We also encourage you to sign-up for RetroPGF Round 3. You’ll be able to describe the impact of your Mission when you sign-up: RetroPGF Round 3 Applications Are Open

Thanks again for being part of this experiment and helping us build the Collective

Hey the milestone updates are here

.
All have been met. As well as an extra tool that has been built around

Thanks for the update @Pr0! Please not that all Missions will be able to showcase their work tomorrow during a dedicated Mission demo day on September 28th, at 16:00 GMT on the Discord mainstage!

@Pr0

Am looking to change the grant alloc to
25k User and project incentives for running and using the infrastructure
which were growth grants and unlocked to
20k for bounties and reviews for security using agreement on token allocation on unlock

allocating this to a general marketing budget. having the tokens not able to be sold has made it to actually get use since only rewards/bounties can be done. Have attempted to do staking rewards, node rewards, drops, hackathons but all have had limited success on growth since noone can see these rewards that may be interested. Should these funds be liquid can hire someone for marketing on to the team. The security budget also has not been fully used even though there are bounties so the high bounty may not be needed since havent been claimed, allowing funds to be used on growth.

Is there an update from this project? Is Scry still active, and if so, what protocols currently use Scry? This grant request is from June of 2023, and it might be worth reevaluating it and making some changes.

what changes. all milestones were delivered and these were voted on, not by grants.

Are there no changes? We saw this:

‘might be worth reevaluating it and making some changes.’
why would this need changes to the grant? you voted against it anyway so its clear u didnt agree with it even before any ‘changes’

Perhaps there’s some miscommunication. You are requesting to alter the approved spending plan of a grant. We sit on the Grants Council which needs to approve that change. You do or do not want changes?

Also chiming in here. Please tag me if you plan on requesting a milestone change as the milestones committee will need to take a first pass on any grant milestone change requests.

This isnt a milestone change its an alloc change, why would there need to be changes to the grant since all milestones are filled. Growth unlocks based on milestones but since theyre all met already theres no reason to need a change right since these were all dev based as well as going further by even doing https://veryfi.xyz/.

Now if u want scope for what itll be used for since yeah could just take it, already stated that its going to be way more useful for actual growth to actually use it after unlock to hire someone to do all the growth bs rather than throwing money at rewards, pay for ads, pay to sponsor shit.

Btw i could way more easily just allocate this to botable bounties which attract bots to fake use like pretty much every other protocol does since thatd make me look good with bs data or actually grow the protocol. Was going to be also used for reviews for security using agreement on token allocation on unlock but there are grants now for free audits, and these funds were unlocked as growth so could have just used them so just trying to make clear that if was trying some shit would be easier not to flag for review. Just the only actually way to use this atm would be rewards which dont do shit other than attract bots and people looking for money or audits that are already free.

Here is the rule in place for these types of changes

Milestone and Metrics subcommittee:

  • Consensus: 2/3 vote unless otherwise stated. This sub-committee will be capable of amending milestone assessment procedures by majority vote. Changes can be vetoed by a simple majority of the full Council within five days of the proposal to change the procedures. The sub-committee will consider any change-of-use or change of milestone proposals from prior finalists and make recommendations to the full Council. A simple majority of the full Council reviewers (7/13) shall be required to approve a change-of-use or change of milestone proposal. The Sub-Committee will have the authority to determine how many votes are needed to accept or reject milestone completion reports through its Internal Operating Procedures.

You want to make a change-of-use. So it needs a simple majority from the Grants Council and the process is handled by the Milestone and Metrics subcommittee.

Yeah get that but dont understand
‘Is there an update from this project? Is Scry still active, and if so, what protocols currently use Scry? This grant request is from June of 2023, and it might be worth reevaluating it and making some changes.’

Thats not changing the use thats changing the grant. Which since have not seen any other grant ever be changed post approval unless not met milestones or was fucky dont understand why would be done when out of good faith reach out to actually make the allocation more useful.

@Pr0, we had a chat as the Milestones Committee and we understand that circumstances arose where the original distribution method is suboptimal at this stage. Therefore, we would be in support of an appropriate change of use. However, these OP tokens can’t be used to cover marketing expenses as in your current proposed revision, it would violate the no-sale rule.

Would you be able to come up with a detailed draft on how you can reallocate the tokens that don’t violate the no-sale rule? We will review this promptly and decide on the change of use approval.

Further, just so we are all on same page, this was the initial breakdown in the original proposal:

  • 130k for developer compensation.
  • 40k for bounties and reviews for security using agreement on token allocation on unlock
  • 30k User and project incentives for running and using the infrastructure

You have completed the work, so you are eligible to receive 130k OP. 40k + 30k = 70k OP falls under the no sale rule. I.e, you can not use these funds to compensate someone for the work (i.e, marketing person you want to hire). We understand your reasoning behind not using this $70k on initiatives like bounties but we are not in a position to change the no sale rule. We will consider your change if you propose a plan for using the 70k OP while adhering to the no sale rule.

Yeah thats why am trying to change from a growth grant to a builder grant with scope for marketing which doesnt have a no-sale rule.

When can we see rewards distributed to citizens of the Citizen House?
