Addressing Voting Apathy in Optimism Governance

Hi there! That’s an interesting analysis you’ve put together. I’m product designer at bleu, and we’re currently building something that directly addresses many of the challenges you’ve highlighted.

As Optimism grantees, we’re developing Govquests - a gamified platform designed to tackle some of the issues you’ve identified, particularly around delegate engagement and participation. We’re focused on creating incentives and clear pathways for both new and existing delegates to maintain active participation in governance.

Your analysis of delegate engagement patterns (especially the statistics around the top 100 delegates) is particularly relevant to our work. We’ve designed features specifically targeting these challenges, including:

  • A tier system that recognizes and rewards consistent participation

  • Special badges for delegates who maintain active voting records

  • Quests that guide new delegates through their governance journey

  • Features to encourage redelegation from inactive to active delegates

Would you be interested in trying out Govquests and sharing your perspective? We’re currently in beta testing and have a Telegram group where testers can share feedback and discuss improvements. We’d love to get your thoughts on our approach!
