We’ve reviewed it using the ETH/OP repricing logic, taking into account the ETH/OP rates at the time of approval (1 ETH = 1886 OP on Dec 22, 2024 for Season 7, and 1 ETH = 4580 OP on July 15, 2025 for Season 8). Here’s how the total budget compares in real terms:

To put this in simple words it means that although the budget increases in OP terms, the total ETH-equivalent remains flat across both seasons since it represents a net change of only ~0.3% in real terms. That said, it’s important to clarify the redistribution of roles and stipends:
The lead role increases from 30000 OP in S7 (~15.9 ETH) to 77000 OP in S8 (~16.8 ETH), which is broadly consistent. The Ops Lead Bonus in S7 (7500 OP / ~4 ETH at that time) is now folded into the Stewardship Stipends.
Regarding the Retro Budget of 60000 OP per season (approximately 13.1 ETH), while we understand the motivation to reward exceptional performance, it’s not something we strongly support. We acknowledge that the Budget Board encourages leads to allocate a portion of their budgets for retroactive rewards tied to performance and outcomes. That said, overall we believe the budget is well-structured and consistent with the previous season.
The SEEDGov delegation, as we have communicated here, being an Optimism delegation with sufficient voting power, we believe this proposal is ready to move towards a vote.
